Skyrim is one of the best selling games of all time, and over the years I have found that it’s extremely popular with a female fanbase – even girls that don’t play a lot of video games. Why does this game stand out so much to women? Here, I wanted to share my perspective and observations, as a female gamer.

Do boys play video games?
so real. my favorite game IS skyrim
There is a lot of beauty in Skyrim and yes agree the buildings, homes cities etc. all have a cozy feel. Add in music thay gives you goosebumps. That appeals to everyone I think but I can see how it especially draws women in. I've tried to get my wife to play because she plays The Sims but she has to cheat at the sims so I don't know. I personally love hardcore survival in my games and have to mod Skyrim to make it more realistic and brutally challenging.
Лол, Магия крови! 😀 Не ожиданно 😀
Stuff like this is what sucked me into Fable 2. If you really wanted too, you could get a spouse, have kids, and work a 9-5 job as a blacksmith or bartender. Obviously I opted to be the magic superhero, but having the option to just, live in the world, felt so much more magical than all the spells and monsters.
A review of Avowed from a Skyrim fan's perspective would be an interesting video.
Thing about skyrim is that it really is a perfect game, in the sense that everyone can play it. Harkens bsck to the old platformer games where everyone could play something like super mario and enjoy them.
It really doesn't have a target demographic imo, and it doesn't feel like it panders to anyone unlike most modern games made for everyone that have politics in mind first skyrim is a game first and I'm happy to see other people enjoy it.
I like what you did with your hair! Very Celtic style.
You should do Why Girls Love Baldurs Gate 3. I joined a BG3 Facebook page and it was 90% women taking about the romance options on their 10th playthrough. I’m hoping this turns into a much larger female DnD contingent
“Except for Delphine, nobody cares about Delphine” LOL
Thank you for your video Angelikatosh! A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.^^
Although I've never had to endure the sexist, misogynist crap that's dumped on women and girls so much, I definitely prefer and really enjoy games like Skyrim (and Starfield) for all the reasons you mention – and I'm well past retirement age, lol. I am definitely hetero, but I really appreciate that in Skyrim (and Starfield) the female characters are just as strong and capable as the male characters, as I am very much pro gender equality. I've always thought it excellent and inclusive that we can choose to play as any gender and make our characters look however we want. The verbal interactions that progress the story really make the role playing so much better. I also tend to decorate my Skyrim dwellings to include all the crafting stations, and add lots of containers (chests, safes, etc) and even add some lighting effects – all with the console. I enjoyed your interesting and thoughtful video.

This, it's always best when there's an option to pick gender because of immersion. I say this as I've been playing a LOT of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 since it came out and that forces you into Henry of Skalitz as the protagonist.
Generally though, I prefer the option to play whatever character you want for immersion. Especially if I want my wife to play a game too.

Okay, to be fair, I really like scented candles but I can't really stand patiently in the decorative pillow aisle. I just don't care if a pillow is pretty as much as comfortable.
As a guy I was actually introduced to Morrowind by a female school teacher, I didn't know anyone else who played the series until Skyrim was announced and people started talking about it.
Tagged Female, been playing since Pacman and Donkey Kong. My first ES game was Daggerfall, thanks to my stepdad also being something of a gamer. OMG, that was a tough one.
I keep getting: "Showed you my elder scroll, plz respond" from girls, but I never asked for them?
Adolescent male in puberty stage also love Skyrim… well… with plenty of 18+ mods.
1st nude mod: December 2012.
I will say this as one of the women that didn’t have access to games growing up etc that you mention in the video, that I think all above this is correct but one obvious point was missed: Skyrim’s main focus isn’t combat. I believe that’s the main reason girls believe games are for boys. Many popular games like Fortnite, call of duty and and league of legends have combat and action as the main focus. Elder scrolls on the other hand, has all the elements a fantasy book might have, plus wonderful soundtrack. (And women LOVE fantasy books). You don’t play Skyrim for combat. It’s more like immersing yourself in another world, and in the atmosphere. I understand this is something that both genders enjoy (boys love Skyrim too), but I think fewer women enjoy games that focus on shooting people with at big shotgun xD
serana is also for the girls ✨
Wolves. If you know, you know.
10:45 Thank you so much for saying this!!! ❤️
this video is so amazing❤❤❤ I've seen someone else speak on the same topic on tiktok but they weren't being totally serious so it felt a bit reductive
Very awesome video Angleikatosh. I have spent most of my life studying how women see things as compare to us men. Hearing how a woman enjoys something that I do, from her perspective is very enlightening. I think it's good for younger men to learn how you ladies like similar things but uniquely from feminine eyes. Great way to bridge the gap between the sexes. While we all share a lot of common likes and dislikes they come from different minds. As I've said throughout my life "Women are like oil paintings and men are like erector sets" each can be both complex and fascinating in their own unique ways. Another is "man's mind are like a rigid and complex maze of many doors and compartments, while a woman's are like giant and elaborate spider's webs."
I loveee the Skyrim armour for their coverage!!! except for the seducers armour side eye
My soul spirit Gordon Ramsay saw your picture with a PSP: – "Oh Dear! Oh Gorgeous!" 😀
I read a heartbreaking and yet heartwarming comment on a Skyrim mod that allowed more races of children and more child/housing options.
The woman had asked if the mod was available on the Special Edition of the game, as this version of the mod was for the original version.
She went on to explain that she was never able to have children in real life and creating a home with children in Skyrim, and the extra options the mod gave her, really allowed her to partially fill that hole in her life, and truly bonded with these virtual kids, playing tag with them, giving them gifts, and running the household.
It's such a simple thing, but somehow, Skyrim was able to immerse us in this world and care about it and its inhabitants. I think this appeals to everyone.
Of course, these features could be so much more, but there isnt really much out there with this kind of immersion and character/life customization, especially if you count mods, which… i do.
Even though its really just a digital version of playing with dolls, Skyrim truly transports you there.
What's the matter? Can't stand the sight of a strong Nord woman?
Delphine is the female Nazeem – arrogant and unlikeable. Though, she definitively has more story and agenda.
Girls love Skyrim because it has the eye liner furry fuck boy brothers. They can chose from one of them to marry or go wild with both.
Same reason why boys love Skyrim, you can choose between hot tomboy werewolf wife or goth vampire chick with daddy issues to be your companion.
It's the Twilight love triangles all over again…
I spent a lot of time hanging out with girls in highschool and immediately knew they were writing to the darker side of femininity with the early quest of whether or not to sabotage a love letter.
DONT PLAY WITH MODS?!?!
You really should go back to it with some of the more impressive mods out there, some of them are absolutely amazing and must haves (for me at least). Be they quests, companions, big armor mods, camping, survival, weather, like really you are missing so much without them.
"Brynjolf is like Serana, but for the girls." Now THAT's a revelation. No joke, truly amazing.
