Welcome back to another episode of Dark Souls II Dissected! Today’s video is all about how a large portion of the community was trolled into believing that player messages were frequently blocking access to illusory walls. We’ll also take a broader look at interaction prompt priorities and what we know about how they work.

so, in regards to the priority of interactables over messages/bloodstains ect. the funny thing is that in elden ring thats a mixed bowl of soup, SOME stuff are prioritized more than messages/bloodstains but some arent, i know for a fact that ive died to an abductor virgin several times in a cave because someone put a message right infront of the escape ladder and it opened the message when i pressed x, and i had even ran into the ladder for a second before pressing x, and have seen several other people have the same issue
disconnect from your wifi, reload the game, now you can open the illusory wall
BAH GAWD IT'S JERMA
I like how jank ds1 unstable ground rule is with enemy units with the rotating bridge painted guardians and the goyales as such
I remember having problems because of something to do with interaction priority but can't remember the specifics of what issue or which game. If I had to guess, I would guess it would be something like the stonesword key issue. Frankly (given the info in your other video about why "the game can't be paused" is BS), I don't think there should ever be a situation where time is flowing, the player is vulnerable, but controls don't fully work.
The ui of souls games needs to be binned and they start again. It is one of the worst and contains a number of anti features. Don’t get me started on the camera.
I swear I could remember having a message cause problems with an interaction
Key word – illusory.
Illusory wall shenanigans aside? But I like your shenanigans
Try tongue but hole
The absolute funniest case of a "hidden path ahead" message to me is when someone was just really bad at aiming where he was going to fall, during a certain late game hidden path in Elden Ring. I saw the bloodstain and sure enough I saw a "liar ahead" pop up not that long after. There's an entire group of players who most likely never found the correct path ahead all because someone didn't properly line it up with the floating messages that were also probably showing for him.
Unstable ground and aggressive autosaving is so fascinating to me.
I mean you really can't fuck up the game however you try. I got stucked once and once I was stucked in falling animation… And I play these games very long…too long
One of the reasons why the messages get pushed away from the illusory walls could be, so there aren't any messages clipping through the door, alerting everyone of the door's location, since they're still meant to be somewhat hidden.
Have you ever considered making a discord @illusorywall?
@illusorywall have you ever considered making a community discord?
those stone sword key messages and heavy door messages are a real issue when trying to speed run dungeons
4:16 oh wow fextralife getting something confidently wrong how shocking…
I thought u were going to talk about the developer message that stated how to climb a ladder at the end of a hostile mob filled segment of a level. Its what it looked like in the thumbnail. Nevertheless, first video ive seen of your channel and I learned a lot.
Easy solution turn off online so you can pass the walls then turn back on
The Interaction Amalgam is one of my favorite prog bands
One that I've definitely seen "in the wild" was a message blocking an NPC summon sign in a Let's Play of DkS1.
Specifically, the sign to summon Sif, which is in Manus' boss arena. So you have less room to fiddle with toggles if it takes you by surprise.
The message was even "Blocking".
Walls, ladders and switches. Doesn't matter, the person who put the message down is still a piece of shit.
Could everyone stop leaving these comments so close to the video?! I can't click play!
As a guy with a bit of coding knowledge- it's highly likely prompts and the toggle function are setup with a sort for priority, and a vector (aka, dynamic array) so it can "house" several prompts.
2:45 Idiots just need to disconnect from online play. Simple solution. Sucks when it comes to playing co-op, but then these games were very poorly designed to be played co-op, especially Elden Ring. I found messages over ladders which did block use of a ladder for the most part. Can't remember which game that was from.
I play offline because i dont have psn+
For king's field illusory walls from what i recall, requiring to press the action button started with king's field 2 (the first us kf). In king's field 1 (in japan) the wall seen at 2:14 is kind of a regular wall, however real illusory walls in kf1 just didn't have any collisions, so you would just walk right through without any action. Also the texture was only from one side so from the other side you'd see right through it 👍
I've never played Dark Souls online before. So i never had this problem.

I don't care how many times I get tricked I will hit the wall every time
