  1. Honestly her story really spoke to me as someone who has a deep seeded fear of one day getting something like dementia or disease that will make me forget everything and lose myself…

  2. On the other hand, her equipment can be found in DSIII, in fact, a lot of DSIII seems to be the consequences of what happens in DSII. Your character does seem to escape the cycle, they trash Chaos, and tell everyone what the fuck Gwyn did, etc. etc.

  3. What’s interesting is that Lucatil’s gender changes to be the opposite to your own. I’m not sure what this is meant to represent, but it’s a nice detail

  4. Honestly the fact that you can't TELL her about the human effigy just seems like the developers being assholes. seriously, there's a difference between 'for some reason they don't work for me' and 'you can't tell her a basic thing'. one is heartbreaking, the other is bullshit.

  5. What? Isn't that just bad writing? The solution to all her problems was literally in the palm of her hand

  6. Damn, i never connected her giving you the effigy. That’s fucked up what the hell

  7. In Dark Souls 3 one can find the Mirrah set without the hat, by trading with the crow one can obtain an item explicitly named "Lucatiel's mask" with its description stating:

"A hollow once fought valiantly with this mask, but feared the fading of her self, and implored a comrade to remember her name.

Perhaps that is why this gentleman's mask is named after a woman."

Regardless of what happened, the bearer of the curse kept their promise to Lucatiel.

  8. Well it's implied the effigy doesn't work for other ppl as it's an effigy of you. So she wouldn't be able to use it anyway

  9. The description of Lucatiel’s Mask in Dark Souls 3 reads:

“A Hollow once fought valiantly with this mask, but feared the fading of her self, and implored a comrade remember her name.

Perhaps that is why this gentleman's mask is named after a woman.”

After hundreds if not thousands of years, the player character of Dark Souls 2 kept their promise. They did not forget Lucatiel.

  10. I'm loving ds2 more than ds remastered. Seriously, not as challenging bosses but seriously an intricate and fun game.

  11. "A Hollow once fought valiantly with this mask, but feared the fading of her self, and implored a comrade remember her name.

Perhaps that is why this gentleman's mask is named after a woman."

  12. The cursed one kept our promise after taking the throne…. we Kept our damn promises and made good on it. We remember. Even better how she maded to the frozen eleum loyce dlc. Aiding us one last time with a handful of knights, and who we got on hand to summon. Now how did another mirrah knight made it to the frozen outskirts…..thats something we never got an answer for.

  13. Lucatiel is my favorite character, I did her whole story and when I went back to talk to her after I defeated the red phantom, she was gone. I looked everywhere for her but realized that she was gone forever. After that I restored the crown made it to the end but walked away from the throne. Because I promised not to forget her.

  14. I killed her for her sword
And all i got was her mask
    Garbage
Later on i really started to love the game now it my fave of the dark souls trilogy

  15. I started playing ds2 a few days ago and…man, do i wish these shorts came up just a little bit earlier so id know what heartache to prepare myself for

  16. I've always had the theory, that the red phantom isn't her brother, and is in fact Lucatiel herself. She tried so hard to be like her brother, that when she goes hallow, she looks into her own reflection, and sees her brothers face in her mask. Her name is lost to her, and so the red phantom bears HIS name instead.

  17. Love the way she can be summoned for the Ivory King boss fight. She may not remember herself; but she remembered enough to aid us one last time.

  18. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: ds2 is a huge allegory for the mind and memory loss. The hub is even called majula (oblongata).

  19. Fun fact but in DS3 you can find her armor and mask. And unlike ds2 her mask is actually named after her meaning even after her death she is still remembered meaning the DS2 chosen undead kept their promise.

  20. The fact that you are not even given the option to give her a human effigy back to at least give her what it takes to face Aslatiel, so that, like Siglind, she may have closure, is the greatest injustice in the Soulsborne universe.

  21. she is a rare case of hollowing. only character in the entire series to be shown with only a partially hollowed body. i wonder if the curse is unique to her in some way, nullifying her ability to even use human effigies to restore her humanity

  22. Ive been messing with a tragic trans reading of Lucatiel, that she and her brother are one and the same. The idea is that she transitioned in her homeland after making a name for herself as a man but her transition led to loss of valor, status and recognition. Still she chose this for herself and inscribed it on her sword as a promise to herself only to begin forgetting more and more once she ends up in Drangleic, searching for the man everyone is demanding her to be.

Its not a happy trans story, hell it ends in true tragedy if you read her showing up detransitioned and invading at Aldias keep of all places, completely lost to societal pressure. I like it though, i think it works well in the personal identity struggle she already has. Lucatiels character plays with so many masculine and feminine themes it fits quite nicely. [These are mainly excuses for stamping the trans headcanon on a character i think is cool tho hehe]

  23. in DS2 you recover your humanety from a sucsessfulle co-op runn, i liked to belive that in her surviving my summoning she got to last just a bit longer

  24. Dark souls 2 has some of my absolute favorite npcs from the souls franchise, lucatiel was great and I wore her mask through 2 and 3 when I got it
