You should also know that it's not the dev's fault you want to run past enemies and get killed instead of take the 30 seconds to one shot all the enemies. And now for a fun story:
On NG+, the four main bosses you defeat drop an additional soul from one of the four main bosses of Ds1. Duke's Dear Freja's extra soul is how you make Crystal Soul Spear and the Moonlight Greatsword. Back in the day on 360 I let this kid borrow one of my MGSs and after we were done playing he refused to give it back. I told him we'd never play again if he didn't return it so he did and asked for help with NG+ Freja.
We get into the fight and as you just learned, Freja can only be damaged by hitting the heads. After enough damage is done, the head falls off. At this point, I drop a pyromancy called Warmth on the boss which heals ANY person or enemy that stands within range. I get the boss back to full health, cut off the second head effectively making the boss invincible, and black crystal out. Welcome to Dark Souls 2.
