  1. The remaster is, without a doubt – a huge step forward (albeit incomplete in regard to game's QoL), but in terms of
visual improvement, it's a huge miss on behalf of the creators – to keep the desaturation of the levels, restricting
to almost a single shade. No matter how many yada-yada tall tales some people might tell about the "mysticism
of the original appeal", this can not negate the fact that such an omission of wider, yet intelligently designed color
palette – would have contributed to the game's visual appeal immensely.
The game has quite an impressive level of detail, including dozens and dozens of objects that become virtually
impossible to notice, unless you are deliberately playing a self-imposed minigame of "find 10 differences between
    this level and the next".
I am sure it was a lot of work for the art-direction team, yet some bureaucrat chief decided just to undermine all the
meticulous effort put into the game by the artists. The way it is, a great deal of the said deal and ornamentation –
meshes into one general-toned web, where nothing is special. Not unlike an unremarkable blur, alas. They could've
kept the colder desaturate tones if that was the desired direction, – expanded palette does not mean going all out
rainbow-shooter like BL3. However, clearly robbing the game of its aesthetic potential with all the plentiful detail
that is simply lost in an endless pile of bland grey-browns – is an epic fail in my book. They could've also included
an option to turn enhanced color off/on, provided they made it in the first place. Which they didn't.
Laziness is always the easy way out, what else is new.

  2. The grass is spawned procedurally. Simple reason why it looks different in both version.

  3. I do like the HUD better in the original compared to the goty edition in my opinion. I feel like the original hud fits the aesthetic of the original borderlands

  4. I've encountered so many glitches in the enhanced edition that I didn't have in the original that I'm convinced Bethesda was the one who did the enhanced

  5. i really wished they added character remarks during conversations and cutscenes like the pre sequel

  6. it seems you missed the weapon textures becoming worse lol. all in all the original works better, looks more coherent and i´d rather play that version instead of paying apremium for unlocked framerate and worse overall graphical result. the graphical fidelity is not as important as a coherent artstyle.

  7. WOW I completely forgot BL1 didn't even have a mini map feature… eesh now I understand why people said not to bother going back and playing back before it got remastered

  8. За тени в автобусе обидно, но ради всего остального можно и стерпеть

  9. As someone who was introduced to Borderlands from the second game (way back when I was a teenager, my foster brother had the game on his xbox), I never experienced the first installment. I got the second game in a Humble Bundle almost 10 years ago. I recently got the first one and have been meaning to play it but didn't know what the differences were between the original and the GOTY Enhanced version.

Since I've been accustomed to BL2 graphics, I like the improvements they made but the original graphics give me that 2000s nostalgia even though I never played the first game. 🥲 Regardless, this answered my most burning question. Also, I found your video through the community content section in Steam! Keep up the good work, brother. 👍

  10. ty for the vid, I just purchased the games from 1 to 3 because they were all on sale for around $5 and I've always wanted to play, just didn't know which version of borderlands one to download. Though I really hope they did the fxaa properly, whenever I hear "improved with fxaa" I cringe a little.

  11. Good job with the video, I do wish you would have shown menus tho. No biggie. Based on what you've shown here I'm probably gonna stick with the OG goty. I'm not seeing a massive improvement and with all the "memory leak" stuff I'm hearing about enhanced, I think I'll stick with my flawed old borderlands with all it's nostalgia. Time to "platinum" this thing again lol. Sigh, how depressing lol
