While Skyrim’s faction quests offer up some compelling content for us as a player, in some cases they lead to an absolutely raw deal for the Dragonborn. And nowhere is this more true than in the Thieves Guild questline.

Why? Besides the fact they are criminal scum that will simp for Maven Blackbriar? Weak.
The real problem is the lack of choice; you are nearly obliged to follow the quest marker and with ability to say "no".
Basically my exact thoughts on why I've always thought the Thieves Guild questline is complete trash and the worst major faction questline in the whole game.

Honestly i never liked them i thought there story line was so boring i think the only thing i did like was the hidout was so cool and sum characters
There really should have been a choice between doing all the Thieves Guild quests, or a whole other questline of helping Mjoll take down the Thieves Guild (and possibly the Blackbriars), and clean up Riften.

You could say all of the guilds suck. Too short, and they ALL expect a no-name upstart to save veteran members. And way too short. I just play them all through at the beginning just to get them out of the way.
Oh yea not being able to sell 4k worth of stolen goods in most major cities is definitely not a road i want to go down. 😂 nah the thieves guild is honestly my favorite quest line and was well written and executed. The story itself could’ve been a successful movie.
The fact Brynjolf just recruits random tourist from the street even after said tourist fails his test, says for itself.
The worst part of the thieves' guild is that they harbor that blackbriar shit. Not being able to kill her and her disgusting children is something that really annoyed me to no end playing skyrim. Specially after being accustumed with the nigh-endless freedom I had in New Vegas.
I only think it's a bad deal for brynjolf. I'm someone who believes that the DB soul always goes to Akatosh anyway, so no sweat there. I don't really have an issue with the grinding element, as it does actually feel like you're making the guild better slowly eith how the cistern slowly gets better and better as you go. As for the abilities, I'm the rare player who never takes an interest in potion making, so invisibility to me is peak. As for the skeleton key, I usually do build to unbreakable picks. So boom!😂
I don't care what you say, this is my favourite guild in Skyrim 😂 and I much prefer sell my soul to Nocturnal than freaks like Molag Bal

The Dragonborne's soul is going to Akatosh when he/she dies. The Daedric Princes have no right to a soul that is a part of Akatosh himself.
It had a totally different vibe than Oblivion's Thieves Guild. In Oblivion, you're a merry band of thieves who protect the poor and pull off crazy heists. In Skyrim, you're a thug for an unpleasant rich woman who exploits and intimidates regular citizens. There isn't really any part of the questline that feels fulfilling

Oh yeah I remember the thieves guild… hated every second playing their quests, only did because uhm, completionist stuff.
Idk Karliah always gave me goth mommy vibes. Especially in modded skyrim. So i love her, being the goth mommy enthusiast I am, her and Serana.

Yeah I'm not big on the Thieves Guild in Skyrim. The guild was so much better in Oblivion

The nightingale armor is nice, mods like thieves guild for good guys, the bat in skyrim where the batman's ancestors were theives guild members with the cowl of the gray fox and a storyline behind it. Opulent thieves guild . Thieir are several ways to improve the thieves guild or have karliah, mercer or brynjolf as a follower. The thieves guild isnt the best faction in skyrim but honestly, without mods to enhance them they are all pretty boring.
My Opinion? The thieves guild IS worth joining. The Nightingales aren't.
At this point I feel like the only way I could enjoy Skyrim again is by ignoring every single faction in the game.
