So glad i never bought this and waited for reviews, I was hyped asf but i already knew how anime games worked by that point. Too bad the only reliable source of anime games is ofc Dragonball.
Personally I think just looking at Luffy from Victory VS. and comparing it to Jump Force will easily show the drop in quality. IMO it doesn't feel that uncanny to me. They look like they were pulled out of a comic and given realistic shading. Still, I'll opt to enjoying the worst version of Victory VS. on my Vita over Jumpforce.
It honestly sucks because i actually liked the artstyle choice of it having semi-realistic texturing and qualities. I thought it was a really cool and unique take on all of these characters, and helped reimagine so many of them for this super-hub of the shonen multiverse. My biggest issue is just that the execution was so lackluster. It was horridly unpolished outside of the actual fighting animations themselves, and the lack of more detailed facial rigging for expressions really caused characterization issues for me (which is a problem when you have so many ICONIC characters to represent faithfully).
The story was just plain weird and bad, introducing brand new weird alien villains just felt cheap, especially given how uninspired the designs were imo.
The character customization, which is MANDATORY, and you cant just walk around as your favorite character or anything, is so lazy and limited when surrounded by a bunch of pretty well modeled legendary anime characters. I wish we couldve at least gotten something more akin to a Dark Souls game, or even SF6. I get its a LOT of work to make well, but cmon, for a combination and celebration of the most popular forms of media to ever exist, its kinda deserved
J stars was more better than jump force. Is there a jstars victory game in other platforms? I played it on the ps3 before. Is there a version in switch or pc?
They should've gone with the MVC3 route, MVC3 looks like we're playing a comic book, Jump force could've looked like we're playing a manga, and it should've been 2.5d
All this game needed to be was a sequel to J-Stars, instead they removed 80 percent of the series that were included in it, favored DBZ and the Big 3 and went to hyper realistic.
I could have handled the gameplay being subpar. I could have handled the art style being ugly. Hell, I could have handled the games story being shit. If they had managed to nail the roster and character interactions. Deku and Asta, Yusuke and Gon, Kenshin and Ichigo, but no, they couldn’t even do that. Jump Force might be the most disappointed I’ve ever been in a game.
They all have different art styles. You wouldn't want to see Gon with an old woman's face, or Kakashi with buck teeth and a moustache. There is no perfect art style.

I think it´s still way better than 90% of arena fighters…the gameplay is pretty fun if you play with friends

I loved that they went with making Kaguya (a not very liked Naruto villain) a base roster character while having Madara (a liked Naruto Villain) DLC.
They knew you’d pay for Madara, not so much for Kaguya.
