Correction: The link between vitality and posture is something the game explains, just before the Lady Butterfly fight with a pop-up box.
you saying that sword saint is one of the best bosses in all gaming must mean gael is there as well RIGHT
Sekiro is legendary definitely one of top games of all time. Would love a prequel or sequel or something similar, or even a new IP similar to what you said about Sekiro & Bloodborne.
Did they only recently add a friendly NPC samurai to the Juzou the Drunkard fight? Because when I played it for the first time the other day, I had a helper who died quickly but essentially trivialized the NPCs surrounding Juzou, so I could have a true one-on-one. Either way I love this game, great vid
Problem for me with demon bell and Kuro's charm is that it's difficulty that you choose. So that means, if you want, you can get rid of them at any time. I don't like to SUFFER, and my first playthrough was not it anyway. yes it was hard, but I understood that I need to adjust to game roles. There is no shortcuts. But if shortcut exist (removing demon ang taking back Charm) it's too hard for me to not use it. I play and understand that because of MY OWN decision I suffer and become angry at the game. And I don't want it. I want to enjoy it. And if I CAN remove difficulty, rather than adjust to it, I WILL removet. Can call me git gud or smth, I don't really care/ My point is, thta Bell and Charm should not be removable. If you chose this path, there should not be any way back
Sekiro was the first fromsoft game Ive played. I thought it would be just some kind of Tenchu type of game, man i was wrong.
52:00: the terror build up is on point tho, you just chop a monkey head off and it pick it's head up and scream at you, lol
59:10: that's…the point, it's to disrupt the fight and allow HIM some rest moment, it reflect in the character that use cunning and dirty trick
I thought Sekiro was hard once. Then I tried Spin Rhythm on the XD difficulty. I've never recovered, emotionally or psychologically.
You can't block perilous thrust attacks but you can deflect them though so you technically don't need the Mikiri counter for them. You can side step too. But yeah Mikiri counter does way more damage to the posture of the enemy than deflecting thrusts. Also this is something I learned from Joe x0F who's a veteran Sekiro player, that the Floating Passage attack from Genichiro (Where he initially does two attacks and then goes into a wild parade of follow up slashes) can't be perfectly deflected based on where you are at the arena you fight him. In some areas of the arena you can perfect deflect all the slashes but some areas you can't. I don't know how it works, maybe it has to do something with the terrain but apparently it's a thing. So I always deflect the first two, then run away and come in at the last swipe for a final deflection. 😅
12:33 mikiri transition was tuff asf
My first playthrough made me lose my cry… so no I'll keep kuro's charm, thank you very much
This game is amazing I just recently got my shura outfit!
33:30 You really don’t use prosthetic tools at all do you? Hahaha. Firecrackers are so good for this fight. I get that deflecting is fun. But damn prosthetic tools are so fun too! And amazingly effective.
A timeless masterpiece
Mist raven is a must for a shinobi, bro
This game is extremely punishing (and also amazing). I'm an experienced gamer, but it was so punishing that I stopped playing it for several months after my first attempt at it. I recently started over again with a mod installed to reduce incoming damage (called 'SmoothSekiro'). It's still very challenging, but at least I live long enough to practice and learn the combat system. As I get better at it I can back off the damage reduction. In the meantime, I can actually progress in the game and enjoy the beauty of it, without giving up and missing out on a masterpiece.
By the way, I did the same thing with Elden Ring to make the difficulty reasonable and not insane. Not everyone wants to be smeared into the carpet for tiny mistakes over and over again. I'm so glad these mods exist so that normal people can enjoy these games too.
Dude amazing video, i love videos about sekiro
I will be getting this game for Christmas.
I would love a boss rush mode of this game
i just recently played the game. i beat isshin in deleted the game. but something made me want to try again. and this new playthrough was all joy without me smashing me head against the wall. i was more aggressive and deflected as much as possible and it became so engaging
Sekiro has the best combat in Gaming history. I'll die on that hill. No other game does sword fighting even close to this well.
Once you figure out the combat you feel like an anime protagonist.
the first corrupted monk fight should have been given a miniboss status. it was a guardian of one of the key story items just like the guardian ape. those two fights aren't on the same level. guardian ape you start of with a wild and erratic first phase, a fake out death and then an antithetical second phase. it's far more difficult and invokes a lot more emotion. This is what a main boss should feel like. corrupted monk on the other hand is merely a tutorial for it's superior counterpart. It should have been replaced for something on par with the ape given it's story significance. Not to say that it's a bad boss it's a very fun fight but it should' have been placed after Rin of the water and before an an actual main boss
I’m replaying this again now. And this is after playing Lies of P. And that is also where parrying is important to the combat system as well. The timing is almost rhythmic and now Sekiro has the same rhythmic feeling to me.
Just a reminder of how well thought and scripted the combat is, in owl's fight, after the shoulder bash comes one swing and then the fire crackers. if you jump inward right after deflecting the swing, you can step on him and jump upwards, avoiding the firecrackers altogether and then even land a couple of hits as you descend, resulting in major posture and vitality damage as reward for facing the danger head on and figuring out the counter. there's almost always a perfect counter to every seemingly dangerous and unconventional enemy attack.
Holy shit this was 5 years ago, time flies
the iron code has one more rule: fear is absolute, u can hear this if you revive 3 times in the Owl boss fight
>never finished any souls game despite playing them all
>finished sekiro and asside all the aspain, its one of the best gaming experiences I ever had
Self-destruction is a part of mans nature
You never used mist raven?!?! Its literally the easy mode of the game that removes the risk of combat when u know when to use it. If u have the fang and blade, it a free hit and if not u can use any combat art. And its amazing for escaping ganks too. Although the prosthetic isnt of much use if u dont have the aged mist raven feathers but if you do… Oh boy where do I start, U can do it after getting hit, knocked down, getting hit with perilous attacks(except grab attacks except the one that can be parried like snake eyes grab) AND WHEN POSTURE BROKEN(when ur is posture broken, in the first few frames or idk half a second?U can mist raven out and still get a free hit or follow up with a combat art, free hit or whatever)… Just use this and umbrella(to block grab attacks and block missiles, bullets, terror and allat good stuff for 1 emblem instead of 2/3 though mist raven is better when playing charmless because it wont block attacks for for 1 emblem as it will damage u so u will end up using a lot of emblems anyway so those 2 emblems per pop is better.) and you get the game's easy mode… Fun Fact : You can mist raven the giant sneks and mist raven mid air when grappling onto the trees with lightning in the divine dragon fight to stand on them instead of catching lightning instantly. Reply to me if you know more…
TL:DR : Mist raven is op and even more op than umbrella in every other situation except for countering grab attacks.
