I was imagining a “The Last Samurai” joke for the title, but eh

  1. First

Also it's so weird to not hear Dan Lemon's original Kaidan voice, but from what I've heard about him and the original Kaidan expansion team, I could probably get over the difference in voice style (even if he does sound significantly older than he looks in this revoice, he does still sound good)

  2. I’ve been excited for this mod for a while. The direction of the extended team wasn’t to my tastes so I am glad to have something that follows the original idea a bit more. I like the new voice too. Thank you for the video, I will sit down and watch it when I get home, just had to pop in to comment as soon as I saw it in my feed. 😀

  3. I am so excited for this new/old version of Kaidan to be ported to xbox. I did not like the direction the extended edition took him in. Clearly focusing on a female DB (given all the showcase videos showed female DB characters and not what the dialogue would be for a male) and the male being an afterthought given all the 'past lovers' they injected for Kaidan….all being women, sure, a couple of male NPCs would flirt with Kaidan but he acted almost…disgusted by them and him being a bi guy…..sir? What are you doing? Also, he was turning into a jealous walking red flag who would threaten anyone who even looked at my male DB wrong….and the whole companions becoming a 'fratpack' and the silly love triangle with Brynjolf and Ulfric also was….hmmmmm…it all really started to bug me to no end. Like, Kaidan was gone and replacing him was that guy from the awful Romance mod. This Kaidan seems to be a return to his roots and I am here for it! I wanna travel with my big walking tank of a now Scottish (I am Scottish so biased towards the accent) Akaviri husband!!!! And, apparently, the whole mod is packaged into 1 mod….instead of the 3 on xbox which took up over 1gb of my mod space….the team has said that version 1.0 will remain as is after any bug fixes and additional content will be that, optional….which is good especially for console! I am rooting for this team as they seem to have the original Kaidan in their best interests!

  4. I've always enjoyed having Kaidan in my team, however I never did his romance quest. It always bothered me how he was turned there into constantly corny, sometimes overly jealous character, giving me vibes of Bishop from Romance mod.
It feels weird to hear a new voice acting, however I think that's a good change.

  5. Yay! I would love to installed this version with my new playthrough. Thank you for playing it, cant wait for the next part

  6. I would gather by age on kai is from the other version he suppose be like about 25 to 30 range I give by his back story from the kai 2 I think. In this one he sound so much older.

  7. I actually like this mod. I do prefer the old voice but the new voice is great and this reworked mod sold me more than the extended edition version.

  8. Aah, from a young strapping tank lad to a ~tank daddy~ 😆 Honestly, either versions are good for preferences, and overall the original Kaidan is a good companion to have with even if you don't want to romance him and just be a bro. I usually have him with Inigo, Lucien and Auri as the 'old gang', but with the fratpack i feel a bit sad they got left out living rent free in MO2. While i agree to few of the comments here about the direction (don't wanna relive bish trauma), i'm not one to halt freedom of creativity. Both teams did an amazing work – Kaidan has always been a relief for me to heal the trauma that 'one' mod gave me.

Anyhoot, cheers for the great coverage! 👍

  9. He mentions very early on that he has some suspicions about his heritage, so he's not just making the jump to Akaviri out of nothing. He's been pondering this his whole life and you're just helping him making the final connections for what he seems to have already suspected. Probably gave it a lot of thought when the Thalmor were beating him and asking him about the Akaviri sword and the Blades.

While the voice actor is objectively very good, he sounds too mature for the character – something I thought when I was listening to the voice samples the team released during their work on this version, and now confirmed by watching your playthrough. The voice just doesn't match the younger face of the original mod. Which also leads me to wonder what NPC overhaul you're using because he looks really weird in your game.

But anyway, I preferred the original VA, Dan Lemon. Sadly, Dan Lemon…
    A) is a bigot (liked and endorsed anti-trans/homophobic/other stuff on his Twitter)
    B) said he would only work with the Kaidan Extended Edition team for further dialogue (who are also known bigots)
So that's a non-starter for any rework of the original mod.

I applaud the effort here and wish the new project the best, but the VA just doesn't work for me personally. I'd love to have him voice a new follower at some point in the future, though. His voice is really very enjoyable.

  10. I don't think it's a leap for him to assume his mom might be Akaviri given that he said he didn't have any of the default racial abilities. He doesn't use those exact words, but this issue has clearly weighed on him for a while, n he has done some research on it.
Edit* never played this mod. Just goin off of what I've heard in this video.

  11. The new performance is very good, but his voice sounds much older, like a man in his 40's, 50's or older.
The old VA's lovely Northeast accent didn't compensate for the grossness of his bigoted views. So bravo for the remake!

  12. I've used Kaidan once before and this voice is definitely strange. Maybe it's your other mods, but the voice has an echo and is much too dramatic-sounding,

  13. I'm so glad you are finally playing this mod. I gotta say this new voice is better, and this is coming from someone who enjoyed his original voice.

  14. Wow… Kaidan just casually Chokeslamming a Thalmor. "A Chokeslam all the way from hell! Bah Gawd! He broke him in half!" Sorry, couldn't help it.

  15. I'm so happy you gave this version a try. A lot of us were dishearten by the direction other teams have went with his character, and KRCE basically gave us back the Kaidan we fell in love with- along with fixing all the bugs the poor man suffered with in the original mod. Hope you continue to play when they add more stuff to him!

  16. Once I realized his new voice is the guy who did Vidkun from the vampires creation club content I kept expecting him to sing ragnar the red badly.
