In this video, I’m going to try my best to one OR two-shot as many bosses as I can in Dark Souls 2! I was invited to this contest by Lemon @TheBacklogs , and all the rules and targets established by him will be listed below. As much suffering as this challenge brought to me and everyone else involved, it was still a lot of fun. After all, persevering through adversity is what makes Dark Souls games so special!
RULES:
1. Your character may be any class, and may start with any gift.
2. Use your channel name as your character name.
3. The run officially begins when your character awakens in the Things Betwixt.
4. You gain 2 points every time you kill a target with a 0-shot or 1-shot. You gain 1 point every time you kill a target with a 2-shot. If you are unable to kill a target in 2 or less hits, that target must remain alive.
5. You may level up your stats whenever you want, as often as you want.
6. Most builds/equipment are legal, so long as they are acquired naturally
7. All glitches (mechanical and pathing skips) are not allowed.
8. If you fail to kill a target, you must reset the instance so that the target goes back to 100% HP (die, Homeward miracle, Homeward Bone, etc).
8a. If the target is now aggro on your next encounter, you may play this to your advantage and an attempt against this target will still be considered legal.
9. Whomever gets the most points at the end of their run is the winner. Special Note: In an effort to remove the timesink/footage this go around, using CheatEngine to give yourself souls and items that you can farm infinitely is legal and acceptable. Please be sure that the items you are spawning are in fact farmable at the particular point you’ve reached in the run.

  1. Don't put it in your pocket that's your lucky effigy. Put it anywhere just not your pocket or it will get mixed with the others and become just an effigy.

  2. This has been wild to see the videos popping up one after the other. Did you guys work out a planned order or is it a coincidental trickle that each video seems to show more successful tricks than the last? Mega congrats for getting some of these, especially without using poison! Doubly so while lacking some of the tools you got later in the run. I'm curious if you've got a revised route you think could score higher, but also please don't hurt yourself and if you do go back to it just cheat engine the crit chance on the gauntlets to save yourself the grind when testing 😅

It's been fascinating to see how misunderstood DS2 mechanics are even by challenge runners sharing notes; truly the odd one out amongst Fromsoft games. I wonder if the discoveries (or common knowledge of information technically already known, and the fixed wikis that comes with it) will enable any other challenge runs previously thought impossible or uninteresting?

That double heavenly thunder whiff on Darklurker must have felt terrible (although I guess a full whiff doesn't end the attempt like a 1/4 would) but that spear kill probably made up for it, that was incredible!

Great stuff all around, well done!

  3. I am loving this competition.

During the first one everyone, including Lemon, were warning people not to do it. It isn't worth the pain and suffering.

Now for DS2 it feels like the number of participants has doubled.

  4. Great entry to the series, and fantastic editing and narration.

Looking forward to seeing the scores. This run should be high up there!

  5. Hey, i have a question.
You did a backstab on one dude, and it did 5 damage first, and then the backstab damage does it still count as a one shot or a 2 shot?

  6. there are so many bosses that I've seen others lay in poison to proc right as they hit (making that the 1-2 hits required) but it's 41:23 and you've PICKED UP THE SPELL, showing us you have it earlier. but you haven't used it once and that's really impressive. I'm glad that Lemon sent out the invitations for this contest because I'm enjoying your relaxed vibes and resourcefulness.

Wonder what other videos of yours looks like.

  7. I am thoroughly enjoying your style of explanation! So happy this contest brought your channel to my feed!

  8. Watched a couple other participants' videos so far and you 1-shotted way more bosses than them, I think you will place very well 🙂

  9. You breezing past Velstadt, compared to most others, iirc, is why these are so interesting

  10. Ds2 is probably the second game I've put the most time into. Aside from ER…. and I've never seen anything fall through the floor lol

  11. A lot of very stylish kills in this, oneshot can often imply a lack of style and a focus on just buffing beforehand as opposed to reacting to the situation but your particular timing and choices of attacks really showed off an adaptability to the situation, as well as just raw flashy style with the jump attacks, of course, plus with the nature of the challenge making it far more tactical with the gated progression stopping you from getting certain things, really made it interesting, as did your commentary, both the jokes and explanations behind your thoughts.

  12. Damn you did so good on the contest, I wonder how many bosses could be defeated in both 1 and 2 shots categories if all runners cooperated for the perfect run

  13. I'm glad the only person who ever attempted a gravelord sword dance only challenge is also part of the Oneshot challenge

  14. Ey loved your take on this one Eleum! Good job throughout, and so glad for you getting recognised by Lemon-senpai.
And had to comment just because of the joke at 56:18 – That one slayed me harder than you did those milf(anitos). Happy Holidays!

  15. I want to ask this as clarification, even though Lemon will probably explain the rules in full when he makes the recap video to show the challenge in full:
Being allowed to cheat in souls to max your stats means that you have the same limitation as with DS1 (where you can only increase your level by the number of points you gained) or was the rule changed to just allow everyone to 99 all their stats the moment they have an infinite soul farm spot "unlocked"?

  16. i love how dark souls challenge runners seem kind of like a community of sorts. i like seeing other youtubers i like congratulating each other and in each other's comment sections

  17. 33:29 Pro tip: backstep instead of turning around if you're about to fall off of a ledge, because the act of turning can drop you off of a ledge, where as backstepping moves you directly backwards

  18. Not the other runners refusing to kill Grandahl because killing NPC stops their quests from advancing, and they didn’t wanna ruin their chances of getting one or the other by killing him only for you to do a test save and find out that you can kill him and it’s fine

  19. Of the contest videos I've seen so far, I think you know the most about DS2. That Darklurker Sunlight Spear was impressive.

  20. From all the videos I've seen so far in this contest I feel like you've gotten the most one/two shots so far without poison (which I think is a weak choice to use, even if you get it at the "right time"), really good job

  21. Good run. I am really, really interested in what a max possible point run would look like. As you alluded a few times yourself that you might get a point here and there but that it'd be just an absolute chore to get it.
