The Royals are back on the road for the first time after the All-Star break, and they wanted to get off on the right foot. After scoring a run in the third and fourth innings, the offense was looking for more as the White Sox were running up the score. The Royals played long ball in the eighth with a Hunter Renfroe solo shot followed up with an MJ Melendez solo shot. Adam Frazier, Maikel Garcia, and Michael Massey loaded the bases for Bobby Witt Jr., who crushed a go-ahead grand slam. Witt Jr. went 4-5 on the night.

  1. I knew Bobby was gonna do something special when the bases were loaded, but I didn't think he was gonna hit a GRAM SLAM!?

  2. The Royals had been looking for Witt for 50 years. He is everything Hurdle and Jackson and Gordon and Mondesi were supposed to be and more.
Now if they can find an outfielder who can hit his weight they can win it all next year.

  3. I've never seen a player better than Bobby Baseball in my 46 years. Simply incredible!

  4. Watching Bobby play makes an old, long time Royals fan shed a tear of joy and that is just sayin' something. I wonder how the older Royal greats feel when watching him. I'm thinking of Cookie Rojas, Frank White, Alex Gordon, (especially), George Brett (of course) Why don't the Royals employ some of these guys as commentariats is beyond me btw.

  5. so I don't know how the WAR stat really works but something tells me this upped Bobby's WAR about as much as you can in one game… 4 hits.. a slam and those defensive gems in clutch time.. this kid is absolutely insane.

  6. not sure what is more impressive, the clutch slam or the pair of clutch backhands+throws.

  7. Good game all around. Back to back homers from Renfroe and Melendez, good rallying in the 8th, and Bobby Witt flashing some leather in the bottom of the 9th. Of course someone like Aaron Judge who only beats Bobby out in RBIs and Homers is SO much better, but I think Bobby made a case for a Gold Glove.

  8. Royals bullpen STINKS to high heck… They could make a post season run IF they had a decent bullpen which the do not, so no post season run for them.

  9. What an absolutely amazing game for Bobby. The commentary was on point as well! Legendary performance by Witt Jr.

  10. We tried to tell them about Bobby. If they didn't listen or believe us then, now they know. Bobby ain't playing around
