In their most dramatic win of the season, the Mets came from behind on three separate occasions to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 8-7 in ten innings. Mark Vientos, called up earlier in the day, hit a two-run home run to tie the game at two in the seventh. Then in the ninth inning, down 5-2, Francisco Alvarez unloaded a three-run blast to even it up at five. Pete Alonso then completed the night of comebacks, crushing a three-run walkoff HR in the 10th for a much needed team win. Lost in the dramatics was the outstanding pitching of Kodai Senga, who struck out 12 Rays over six innings.

  1. First walk off of ther year . That says alot about the struggle to score runs theyve had all year. Great to see the you guys stepping up when the verterans arent pulling their weight.

  2. Mets needed some POWER Bats
Good to see Baty, Alvarez & Vientos all playing for Mets! Next year Shohei!!!

  3. I glad the Mets are finally bringing up the best hitters from their Farm System 🫡

  4. Good to start my day learning they won. End my nite yesterday thinking they couldn’t beat the Rays 🎉 loving a win!

  5. Thanks to the new playoffs system, the Mets can finish as low as 6th and still make the playoffs. No reason to panic at this point of the season.

  6. Only time you see Lindor in these highlights is when he is cheering from the dugout 😂

  7. Senga with emotion, youth movement in full effect mixed with veteran clutch power. Rise from your graves! 🪦🍎

  8. Great win!! But that was yesterday today is a new day and hopefully they can build off that big win.

  9. This game was 1-0 and felt like a blowout that we’d never come back from. Turned out to be one of the best games I was in the ballpark to experience!

  10. Im a Yankee fan but decided to to the game last night. What a night to go! Stayed till the end.

  11. Good game for the guys! Watching a game from home listening to Gary, Ron & Keith is a treat. Pete Alonzo dropping the F 💣 yesterday was funny and when he hit his walk off I dropped a about MFing time myself. I know they’re trying but the Mets are to talented to be losing games to lesser teams. Let’s GO METS

  12. Wow, Garys calls were awesome. I was listening to this on the radio and the new guy McCarthy totally butchered the call. No emotion. Embarrassing. Howie was a little off too for the alvarez homer.

  13. The Ray's payroll is 8% of the Mets yet it feels like an upset when the Mets beat them (and I'm actually a Mets fan). Hopefully they can finally get things rolling.

  14. We have started poorly but also had to deal with a rash of issues to important players like Verlander, Quintana, Carrasco, etc Many veteran hitters have started skowly like Canha, Escobar & Vogelbach. Alonso & Lindor can’t win every game.

Luckily we are getting some health & players back. Also. While we have a strong young core & goos mix of veterans we are loaded with a lot of positional player prospects. Youngsters like Brett Baty & Francisco Alvarez are starting to hit & are clutch. They are a big part of this future & will be big run producers. They getting acclimated to the majors & starting to break out. Vientos is a hitting machine. We also have SS Ronny Mauricio who is a nice power & speed blend who is learning 2B & could be a another spark for this team. He could allow us to play McNeil is left if Canha continues to struggle. Besides having the #1 prospect in the game in Alvarez we also have power hitting catcher Kevin Parada who was taken 5th overall last year in the minors along with a Mini-Trea Turner type player in SS Jett The Met Williams who could move to 2B or CF. While we are loaded with young position players we do have some exciting young arms like Blake Tidwell & Calvin Zeigler. Former 3rd round pick Matt Alan has ace like stuff but has been injured. If he can get healthy, he could fast track it to the majors.

Despite the poor start & mediocre play we don’t have to panic yet. We have a strong team & exciting young players who are stepping up. Guys like Starling Marté are too talented to continue to struggle. Last two games were crazy! Theyre showing their heart & grit Let’s Go Mets!🙂👍
