Scott Boras helped Carter Stewart Jr land a six year/7 million dollar contract with NPB’s Softbank Hawks despite no previous pro baseball experience. In his fourth season with the Hawks, he did not get a call up and pitched in 14 games for the Nigun (minor league) team with a 3-5 record and 3.19 ERA. In 53 2/3 innings, he struck out 52 but also walked 42 batters.
He was selected to represent the NPB’s under 23 all star team in an exhibition game commemorating 150 years of baseball in Japan.
Next season he will have to compete for the roster with other import players such as Roberto Osuna who joined in the offseason.
