  1. I heard that someone was on the couch and her friend told her the jays were playing. When she saw Hoffman was pitching she turned of the tv immediately

  2. I 100% agree that Varland should be the closer. But to anyone hating on Hoffman, please stop. If you're going to hate on anyone, hate on the coaching staff for not making Varland the closer sooner.
He wants to do well. He wants to win. And he hates letting his teammates down. And his stuff is absolutely electric.
I just wonder if he hasn't got over game seven yet. As he said in the post game seven interview, he said that he cost everyone in that clubhouse a World Series ring. If I were in his shoes, I might very well be going to sleep every night thinking about that at bat, and it would be eating me alive.

  3. I know its tough because its nice to have varland for the late innings but man hes a much better closer than Hoffman could ever even wish of being

  4. The fact that Varland closed a bases loaded jam in the 9th inning and got the last two outs on just one pitch is insane. Varland needs to be the Jays new closer.

  5. Hoffman should be dfa'd .. doesnt matter his contract or whatever! No one will even pick him up and we gotta eat that money somehow.

  6. I don't know who told John Schneider that Hoffman was still a closer. Varland clearly should be the closer for the Jays! Either way GG!

  7. Hoffman has lost his fire and confidence- I feel for him. At best he’s a 5-6th, Jimmy 7th or 8th, Rogers 7 or 8 and then Varland 9. Trade deadline might be interesting this year – Varsho costs runs every time a fly ball is hit because of his weak arm, needs to be LF and Straw to CF.

  8. We gave Hoffman the chances…he hit 2 batters today. It's not an off today, it's a serious control issue with him. Send him to Buffalo and bring Varland in as our closer. Both Varland and Rogers have been excellent so far.

  9. The only time i've querstioned John Schneider is his decision to not yet remove Hoffman as closer. He can't do it. Even stranger after his gm 7 performance. Should have been canned right then.

  10. Here we go again………………gotta change my underwears …………complete fill………………………………………..Hoffman back on duty!!!!

  11. I mean I cant be the only one who could see that Varland was the man since this time last year at least…

  12. Should the Jays start Hoffman in the 1st so at least they have the next 8 innings to make up the 4-5 runs he gave up?

  13. I was looking at the standings…considering jays losses…and almost last place…they are only few games behind New York. I mean no team stands out…not even LA….

  14. Hard not to feel for Hoffman. I haven’t emotionally recovered fully from the jays losing that game and I was just watching. Can’t imagine being the guy that was on the mound for it.

  15. John Scheider looks insane every time he puts Hoffman in a game. Literally everyone on earth can see Hoffman needs rehabbing. "I believe in Jeff Hoffman" just sounds like wishful thinking at this point.

  16. People are blaming Hoffmann for the Jay's struggles. No. This is John Schneider's fault. The man has the biggest ego ever and will go with a struggling pitcher just to prove his point.

He doesn't care that it will the Jay's games. Funny thing is that when it comes to other good pitchers, Schneider is the complete opposite. He will panic and pull a good pitcher from a game as soon as they give up 2 hits in an inning.

Notably Schneider pulled Mad Max from Game 7, as soon as he gave up a few base hits. We were WINNING the game. And he pulled him for a struggling bullpen that failed to close out games.

It's this type of decision making that costs us games. People say Jays went to the world series last year because of Schneider. No. They went to the world series despite of Schneider's dumb decisions. This year, if we don't fire him. He will make a decision in the playoffs (if the Jays make it), that will cost us.

  17. this is not development league, results are the only thing that matters in pro sports. not hard to figure it out who should be the closer
