  1. Goldschmidt is a touch of class. A professional and I would add him to the roster. I doubt it will happen but he deserves better.

  2. You can’t give Boone opinions or he’ll make the wrong choice. If Goldy is there Boone will play him too much.

  3. Guy is a legend and clubhouse presence. A mentor for the younger players. Class act.even if for half the year while players develop and he teaches

  4. This would be a good move. He should cost next to nothing and hit better vs LHP than Rice does while providing better defense when he's on the field. He and Rice together can amalgamate into all-star first baseman productivity.

Inevitably there will be moments where Rice is exposed to lefties and Goldy is exposed to righties, but Rice can still hold his own there and Goldy will face this scenario maybe 15-20 times all year, considering he's the short side of the platoon. This is definitely worth it, though protecting Goldy from PAs vs RHP should be a priority.

  5. I'd be fine having Goldy back as available RH bat. But let me address the operative question: would he be worth more than the still-developing player he would replace: Oswaldo Cabrera – who can credibly fill in at every position except pitcher and catcher. Maybe, because of addition of Rosario and Caballero, but one of those guys could get hurt too. I also saw Cabrera as a 4th outfielder if we traded Jasson. With Bellinger available at 1B, I would have preferred a similar RH bat profile like Goldy as a back-up catcher. Still crazy to carry three LH catchers.

  6. WOW THE YANKEES GOT NO DIRECTION. IF HE PLATOONS WITH BEN RICE THIS FRANCHISE NEEDS TO BE SOLD TO PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY COMPETENT.

  7. If you believe in Rice, then he's going to take playing time away from Rice, limiting he's learning curve against lefties.

As for Bellinger's luxury tax hit, it should be an even spread with a $32.5MM AAV, even though it's front loaded. The calculation doesn't assume he will opt out. He may not opt out.

  8. Why not re-sign DJ too. In fact, how about we get Posada, Jeter, Coney, Sandman and Bernie to come back too? Geezus…this friggin' dumba$$ organization.

  9. I'M all for it…bring back Goldy.. the man hit well of the right handed pitchers.. going to have to trade Prospects for Hoernor….Only the so called Youtube analyst's that never played Pro ball would disagree..

  10. This doesn't make any sense at all unless they plan to trade Rice in a deal for Skubal. And then It still doesn't make sense because the only thing he really adds is great defense at first

  11. Pls don't bring him back he had a terrible second half to his season and he's 38. Yes he can play the field but in the playoffs he doesn't have any pop in his bat anymore. Just have Bellinger back up at first. The team if they are going to run it back just get another stud for the pen preferably a left handed pitcher who can top high 90s for the 8th inning. Who if matchups allows you can put him out there to close.jojo Romero would be a nice fit

  12. Put Bellinger at first base, trade both Rice and Domingues for a complete outfielder who can defend and maybe lead-off. You'll have a better line-up in the end. The Yanks seem to specialize in young players who can't hit lefties, and can't defend well anywhere on the field.

  13. Why not just get a right handed bag that can do more than just play 1B and hit lefties? Why are they going cheap?

Why does Bellinger cost that much towards the luxury tax yet the dodgers for some reason get a huge discount on Ohtani? MLB is broken.

  14. Goldschmidt in a back up role is an ok move. Not as a platoon situation but a pure backup to Rice. Also, I’m curious to know why you’re against bringing back Gary Sanchez?

  15. Goldschmidt as a platoon bat is a solid move, ideally it would be an outfielder but I’m fine with it.

  16. @firesideyankees Ryan Garcia I don’t know about that Paul Goldschmidt could probably be the backup for Ben Rice to hit left handed pitching!
