  1. The Jays are now focused on a big trade to boost their outfield, but that could come near the trade deadline.

  2. I hate the idea of overpaying Belli on even a five year deal. I think you’re much better off as an organization (now and future) when you can walk away from scenarios like this and simply trust your internal development. Even if those internal options don’t quite live up to expectations, I’d rather say no to the large, potentially roster clogging contract today, and see what the free agent/available external talent is tomorrow. These are investments that have an impact on how we’ll continue to build this team for years to come especially with a looming lock out or even just the self imposed budget. Would anyone be shocked if Cody Bellinger had a 118 ops+ next year? Would anyone be shocked if Jasson Dominguez had a 118 ops+ next year?
When we finish this year WITH Bellinger and it’s still not enough to win the World Series….given the way we operated this off season….do we really see the Yankees significantly adding to the roster? These types of moves are exactly why we’re in the position we’re in in-terms of our budget. Watch…we’ll sign Belli and he’ll avg 4 WAR during his contract yet he’ll be another 30 million dollar contract. If you’re gonna operate under a budget you need to let guys like Rice and Dominguez develop and make SMART investments

  3. Just pay the guy the Yankees will be bad without him as less wins = less revenue 😅 If they don't I'm sure someone else will still pay him

  4. The Yankees don't really want him back, if they did, they wouldn't have given Grisham the QO to begin with. They are offering Bellinger a contract they know the player won't accept to try to avoid the ire of the passionate Yankees fan base. They did the same thing with Soto and Yamamoto (always coming up "just short"). It's a tactic to try to mollify fans into saying "at least they tried". But it's all b.s. They know Bellinger has no interest in an opt-out. He's already 30 and likely wants to play in Yankees Stadium until age 36-37 (as most MLB players do) to give himself a shot at making the HOF (and/or getting his name on a plaque in Monument Park). As such, what good is an opt-out in 2 years for a 32 year old outfielder? Nobody's offering you a new 5+ year contract at age 32. This is literally Bellinger's only chance to negotiate that goal.

  5. Pull the offer off the table, not worth the $$ and 5 years, move on,play the kids and if we need something get it at the trade line ,the Yankees always brag about their farm system so let them play!

  6. 5 years doesn't help Cody's problem. If he signs that deal he will be 36 when the music stops. The likelihood that he finds a gig at that point is greatly diminished. With this contract the Yankees are saying to him, "that's not our problem." Fair enough but then the Yankees keep saying they love him and he is a perfect fit for them so he's supposed to give the Yankees what they want right now when they need him the most but they won't do the same for him on the far end.

Okay but if he's supposed to take a shorter deal from the Yankees that doesn't really help him with what seems to be his most important issue (he doesn't give a damn about opt outs, why would he?), then why accept a short deal from the Yankees?

Why not get a short 2 year deal? There are certainly several teams that would see him as a real bargain for them even at a higher AAV than the Yankees are offering and still be back out there at 33 with a reasonable shot at one last deal. Hell, the Dodgers could sign him in a deal like that and he would have a very realistic shot at another ring.

  7. Cody isn’t coming back! And at this point, I don’t want him back! He’s not that guy!!! The fact that he painted himself as such is laughable to me! The Yankees gave him more than enough money and years on the deal. Yankees let’s move on!! ✌🏼 Let him have fun in Philly Or Mets

  8. @firesideyankees Ryan Garcia Cody Bellinger is going to sign with the Mets I think the Yankees should focus on getting Freddie Peralta trade!

  9. I'm a Met fan….that being said I won't be disappointed at signing him but he makes better sense for the Yanks. The contract the Yanks offered is above and beyond …..anything more than that is definitely an overpay. But remember this is the free agent game the Yanks invented ….overpay and grab all the players you can.

  10. Ryan, why don’t you think that Milwaukee isn’t demanding Dominguez as part of the Peralta deal? They need a left fielder and would want his upside (admittedly diminished but still better than what they have) and years of control…. If that’s true, the Yankees couldn’t trade for Peralta until they secured Bellinger

  11. Going going gone Bellinger to the NL. I would be more upset if they signed him at this point. Not much out there but the way I look at it is let the young ones fight it out including Hays in spring training. Then at the trade deadline try to pick someone up.

  12. Nice channel. Hope the Yankees have a plan B if Cody Bellinger does not come back. Even if Yankees get Bellinger back we still need more good guys. A righty good bat. If Cody comes back to Yankees I would put Cody at first base and Ben Rice is your catcher.

  13. As far as signing Bellinger, Lets Go Mets, from a NYY fan. I'd offer 1 year at $30,000,000. Really don't want him at all.

  14. He’s going to the Mets. Hal has turned the Yankees into a joke with the players and there agents

  15. Losing out on Bichette without even trying has hurt me the most, losing Bellinger too will just be icing on the cake that I’m done supporting this Owner and GM. Bichette is 27, is the perfect RHB for the leadoff spot, his father played for the team and exactly what this lineup was missing. They could have gave him 225 Mill over 8 years and he prolly takes that over the Mets offer and with today’s payrolls that would have been a drop in the bucket considering what his father would have payed for a player like this if it meant competing with the dodgers. I said to start the offseason they need 2 of Bichette, Tucker or Bellinger to really compete with the dodgers and then they let one go to the dodgers and don’t even bid on the other.

  16. Let's take a gamble with Dominguez or Jones. No way should the Yankees go above what they're offering. I think Bellinger reached his high mark last season and I don't think he will average numbers like that on a season to season basis and will only decline as he gets older.

  17. When you declare openly, an FA is your number one priority. You're already at the mercy of the player and agent.

  18. Fun fact in 20 games in Queens Bellinger has a 925 OPS seven home runs n a 265 average
