Following a series-opening shutout win over the Twins, the Royals looked to clinch the series with a third straight win but would face plenty of adversity. The bats managed just a pair base-runners over the first 7 innings of the game but were kept afloat by the efforts of Alec Marsh giving up just 2 runs over 5.0 frames and a trio of scoreless innings from Daniel Lynch. Trailing by 2 runs with 1 out in the bottom of the 8th inning, the Royals would reach base in each of their next 5 at-bats, with Kyle Isbel breaking through with an RBI single to get on the board. An infield single from Tommy Pham combined with a throwing error would tie the game and set the stage for Bobby Witt Jr. to dump a base hit into center and drive in Isbel to put the Royals on top. MJ Melendez would add an insurance run with an RBI single later in the 8th. Lucas Erceg was called upon to protect the 4-2 lead in the 9th inning and he would respond with a 1-2-3 frame to shut down the Twins, giving the Royals their third-consecutive win and a series win over Minnesota.

  1. If anybody tells you a manager can not cost you a win, I'd say "see exhibit A, September 7, 2024, Twins vs Royals". But to the Royals credit, this Royals team is so good, that when an opponent makes a mistake, they make you pay, and that is vastly different than where they were at this point last year. If you want hope, keep in mid, September 2023 the Royals had a winning month for the first time in 18 months. If Vinnie gets back early this team will make the postseason. And that is absolutely stunning. One of the all time best one year improvements I can think of.

  2. Twinkie fans getting as fickle as Yankee fans. Rocco didn't lose the game. He asked his reliever to do his job, and he didn't do it. That's not on Rocco. Ober could have gone out in the 8th inning and gotten shelled, and then Twins fans would be saying, "Why in the hell did you leave Ober in so long, Rocco"??? It's SO easy to manage from your couch after you know the results of the game. But the fact is, a manager is only as good as his players. And his players let him down tonight.

  3. Whoever is editing these videos, can you put the current standings as the last three minutes of the video for context of the game please.

  4. I am Venezuelan, but the way Pablo Lopez plays (roughly) does not represent me, I want to see him defeated tomorrow…Go Royals Go…!!

  5. Coming back late… now what team does that remind me of… oh yes!! Both the 2014 and 2015 Royals. This team has been frustrating at times but this team never gives up. They play to the 27th out. And they don't hang their heads when they lose. I LOVED Salvy's face yesterday after getting plunked. You do not see him pissed very often. In a related note.. he's huge

  6. I admit i was paying more attention to the nebraska football game than the royals game…until halftime allowed me. It was perfect timing because that is when the royals rallied

  7. The Twins made a dumb mistake. When the Royals saw the Twins taking Ober out and looking to the bullpen, the made it hurt. Go Royals 💪

  8. Izzy is about as stoic as any player in the league, I love seeing that emotion out of him after the rbi single. Playoff atmosphere in KC last night.

  9. With second base opened, there is no way you should pitch to Bobby Witt jr with the game on the line. I don’t care who’s on deck. Thanks, Twins
