The Royals looked to cap a successful road trip with one more win in Detroit and Michael Wacha on the mound. Wacha turned in another quality start, tossing 6.0 innings allowing just a pair of runs and notching a pair of strikeouts. Will Smith and Chris Stratton held the Tigers with scoreless innings but the Royals bats remained silent. The Royals offense was held off the scoreboard down to their final out when MJ Melendez stepped in to pinch-hit and delivered a go-ahead three-run home run to put the Royals on top. Hunter Harvey tossed a scoreless 9th inning to secure the win and his first Royals save, giving the Royals a 6-1 road trip.

  1. As a lifelong Royals fan, I can still honestly say…I like the Detroit Tigers old-school uniforms.
Something about them are just classy.
I think Kirk Gibson or Alan Trammel when I see them.

  2. for those bashing on MJ, don’t forget we likely would not have won the game in Los Angeles (against the Dodgers), If it wasn’t for the grand slam he hit.

  3. Really needed to steal one since the bullpen blew a sure win on Sat. On a side note, DET stadium looks ok but can they please so something about the outfield wall? Didn't even watch every part of all 4 games and saw 3 Royals hit ground rule doubles. All 3 would have likely been triples but it's rather absurd to see so many in just a few games. #raisethewall
