Alec Marsh took the mound in Game 1 of the doubleheader vs. the Cardinals, working through a tough start to finish strong and record a quality start. Trailing 3-0 in the 5th, MJ Melendez and Garrett Hampson tied up the game with RBI doubles, setting the stage for Salvador Perez’s go-ahead home run in the 6th inning. The Royals would add on again in the 8th inning thanks to a sacrifice fly from Vinnie Pasquantino and another RBI knock from Salvy. Will Smith, Sam Long, and James McArthur would not give up the lead and would secure a win for the Royals in Game 1.

  1. The Cardinals are a very strong team.

I thought it would be good to get one win.

I'm very happy that we won two games in a row.

I hope the Boston series continues like this.

  2. Garcia 'drives' one to right fielder at the warning track….did anyone else see a popup that the 1st baseman prolly could have caught 100 ft behind first base?
