PIT@WSH: Strasburg electrifies through seven frames

  1. I was there. Had to leave early due to injury making my leg hurt…but I stayed thru 7th . kept the ticket

  2. I’m a Mets fan but recall getting home from practice and watching this. They showed the city near the stadium and it was packed, his an haywards first games were different, people were going nuts

  3. Best "stuff" I've ever seen. Really a shame he can't stay healthy. He'd be a sure fire hall of famer if his arm would have kept working

  4. Remember watching this live. Insane, even with the injuries he’s still put together a hell of a career with all the hype

  5. He is the only player from the 2 consecutive number 1 overall picks that is still with the team because Bryce Harper left in free agency to sign a 13 year 330 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies and Stephen Strasburg stuck it out with the team and won a World Series championship and a World Series MVP award!! That’s a devoted player that you want on your team right there, he’s a great pitcher when he is healthy, I got a chance in 2010 to go see him in Detroit when the Nationals came to play against the Tigers and I got a chance to meet him and talk to him while he was in the bullpen, he’s a very nice and cool guy 😎

  6. Here because he’s retiring. Dude was a monster but those injuries were bad. I’m happy he got a ring.

  7. Injuries kept this guy from a CY and HoF berth. No doubt. He was really something to watch. Unbelievably dominant in 2017 and 2019. Quality of life is nothing to take for granted, he's definitely making the right choice.

  8. Here after hearing he's retiring smh I remember this game vividly and knew baseball had a superstar, what a way to play in your first game

  9. A sad end to what could have been a HoF career. But he accomplished what was anticipated of him. World Series MVP and a fantastic stretch from this first game and up to the World Series. He lived up to the hype despite the injuries.

  10. It’s truly hard to believe me and my brother and our friends who played ball were in awe of his talent. We wished we could pitch 100 in high school, and almost 14 years later…I am a die-hard Cubs fan, but as a kid who played ball, you have to admire the talent. This debut was truly majestic.
