The Yankees are not going to win in the post-season, too flawed a team, no starting pitching other than Cole, no bonafide closer, no left-fielder, a centerfield that cannot stay healthy, no production from 3rd now that Donaldson is back, Stanton goes hot and cold and when cold can not hit a little league pitcher, and just when he is starting to get hot, he gets injured again, he is a threat at the plate, but not a good hitter. Judge is the engine that drives this team, but he is also often injured, and can certainly be pitched to, keeping the ball below his waist. He still has not adjusted to hit a low pitch, striking out 175-200 times per season. DJ's offensive stats have declined precipitously over the last 3 seasons, so that his decline begins to represent a pattern, from which there is no return to his former glory. Torres is not terrible, but he makes too many defensive miscues, and appears nonchalant in the process of his defensive lapses. He also makes so many base-running blunders, as though he lacks not only foot speed, but baseball acumen. The Yankee bench is very thin, with a lack of production. Lose one starter and the production drop is dramatic.

I wish Donaldson would just focus on getting base hits. He’s always swinging for the fences and striking out. No matter how good his defense is if he can’t hit he needs to go!

The core issue hasn’t changed: this team has difficulty scoring more than 3 runs in a game. This could have also been a 4-3 loss.
