PIT@ATL: McCutchen, Pirates lose in the 19th inning

  1. This game went on for a whopping 19 innings and lasted until nearly 2 in the morning. I'm convinced the umpire had lost all patience and just wanted to get it done.

  2. If you watch it really close… It almost does look like the catcher almost missed the swipe of the tag. Especially from the second shot of the replay. Just watch his glove. (Obviously he tagged him I know, but it's still a lot closer then I would have thought) The ump wanted to go home. Didn't this game go on until like 2 in the morning.

  3. I’ve never understood the hype on this. Is it bad? Yeah. But why are people calling this the worst call in MLB history? Look how subtle that tag is. It would be SO easy to say the tag was missed with the naked eye. This is not the same as the Jim Joyce call or any of the crap Angel Hernandez does. Why is this called the worst?

  4. Is there clear video showing the catcher's mitt actually touching the runner?

  5. He was safe. Catcher never tagged him. He swiped the glove above the knee and then lifted the glove up. Good call.

  6. Slowed way down it appears he missed the tag. That makes this one of the best calls by an umpire ever.

  7. Actually, I looked closely and he actually DID miss! The catcher actually whiffed the tag and did not contact him.
I thought it was a bad call at first, but from what I saw, that was shockingly the right call

  8. Foolish baseball showed it, he might have been safe bad tag by the catcher
