Boston Red Sox 1 at Tampa Bay Rays 3, F — Akinori Iwamura stabbed Jed Lowrie’s bad-hop grounder, had a moment of indecision about whether to flip the ball to shortstop Jason Bartlett, then he headed to second base. Once his foot touched down on the bag for the force out, the Rays were headed to the World Series, led by American League Championship Series MVP Matt Garza. A raucous celebration on and off the field followed saw Rays principal owner Stuart Sternberg presented the William Harridge trophy for winning the American League pennant. Iwamura moved across the top of the Rays’ dugout, slapping palms with fans, and most of the crowd of 40,473 remained in the building, still standing and cheering for their team.

  1. Watching this game before tonight’s Game 6 because I want the Rays to eliminate the Houston Asteriks

  2. What’s the name of the song that was playing after Aybar’s home run and after the final out was made

  3. Went to game five at Fenway. Loudest game I've ever been at and first time I got to close down Fenway for the season.

  4. I remember thinking this Rays team was a flash in a pan, but the reality is they've been a very solid team more often than not over the 13 years since that 2008 season
