Too many damn challenges! Disrupts the flow of the game! 🙄

MAGIC!! MAGIC!! MAGIC!! MAGIC!!
Baz had a bad 2nd inning, and then locked tf in. As the wise Tsu Surf once said "don't judge him when he's comfortable, it's about what he adapts to". Good ugly win that this team needed to show them that they're never out of it 🫡
Get rid of this BS challenge rule. It cheapens the game and makes players look like crybabies instead of ball players.
Let's Go O's
10 challenges on 321 pitches. Wouldn't that suggest the umpire is wrong at least 3% of the time?
Good win today, but I'd like to see a longer leash from Albernaz with his starters, especially with 2 key bullpen arms on the IL.
Baz had clearly turned things around after the shaky start, was at only 78 pitches in the 6th inning, and just got the leadoff guy on 1 pitch.
lol I love the challenges tbh
Go Os win a game

Damn, we really had to work for this series.
O's just need to stay healthy.
Thank God we have a manager who will pinch hit for Mounty against righties.
Thank goodness for ABS. Makes the games more about the players than the umpires.
Love these cool weather games early in the season. Might be 2-1…might be 8-6. Takes time for the players to warm up. Looking for a play off run this year O's!
Lets win every series !! 💪
Lets Go Os !! 👍
Needed to see them do this. The team was missing fight last year hopefully they can keep swinging the bat like this
I was there
This is a different vibe.
Mayo’s defense has been surprisingly great. And his at bats have been some of the best on the team. With some big and timely hits too. He’s due for a HR this series.
Basallo has had good at bats and hits too. And Blaze and Jackson too.
I feel pretty confident about the team despite some struggles so far. Gunnar and Pete will start hitting and be elite again. Pitchers should settle in too. And hopefully Elias trades for a good reliever to help the BP. Though Kittridge and even Bautista should be back, one soon and one later. Then we’d have a real nice 7-8-9 bullpen. And maybe the new reliever who pitched 2 shutout innings will turn into what Cano was a couple years ago.
And once Westburg and Holliday are back Albernaz and Elias will have am abundance of infield talent. Especially if Blaze and Jeremiah Jackson keep hitting well. I think both of them can also play outfield. Worst case we trade a guy or 2 but I think it’s more likely we keep them for depth.
How can you not be romantic about ORIOLES?
So ABS is a really, really good thing for the Orioles… especially since the O’s are like always bottom 5 in MLB in umpire favor. And the Yankees are always at the top (both NY teams are, shocker). I know in 2024 the Yankees were #1 in MLB in ump favor (and still somehow complained more than any other team 🤡) and never even dropped out of the top 3 (like the Mets), and the Jays were #4, while the O’s and Red Sox were bottom 5 (O’s were like 26th-28th). The O’s were even bottom 5 in ump favor when they won 101 games smh. I just stopped looking after 2024 because it just made me angry, but I imagine this trend continued last season. Having the ump advantage only 40% of the games vs 70% for the Yankees/division rivals is just wild. Yet somehow literally no one ever talks about it… but if this was reversed and the Yankees were always getting majorly screwed it would be a national story and there’d be outrage 😂
Unfortunately ABS won’t stop the video challenge umps in NY from continuing to screw us over, but at least we can [somewhat] help even the odds with the home plate umps. It also unfortunately won’t stop terrible umps like CB Buckner from getting butthurt after losing a bunch of challenges in a game and then screw that team over worse on things like check swings/unchallengeable plays (and more bad pitch calls once that team has lost both challenges). He just did this to the Red Sox… though I really don’t think he lasts this whole season. I think he’ll either choose to or be pressured by MLB into retiring now that everyone can see how incompetent and unprofessional he is. I know typically umpires have always had zero accountability whatsoever but it’s not a good look for MLB now that it’s front and center and he’ll be embarrassing himself (and MLB) every time he’s behind the plate.
And people who say well most umps are like 95%+ accurate on pitch calls… that’s really not correct since, as Jomboy pointed out recently, most of these calls are clearly strikes or clearly balls. So if we’re only measuring the calls on borderline pitches (where umps are actually needed) then some of them like Buckner probably aren’t even 50% accurate.
Anyways ABS is a great thing for the Orioles (and Red Sox), and bad for the Yankees and probably Blue Jays too.
Not sure the flapping is better, but at least the Os got rid of the sprinkler.
The Rocco Baldelli influence remains strong. So many boneheaded baserunning blunders and lackadaisical play in the field. I remain disgusted with the state of the Twins. Their identity should be smart station-to-station offense and solid fielding.
