And what baseball fan , doesn’t envision themselves doing that ⚾️⚾️
Remember watching this as a Nats fan. The absolute dread I felt when Michael A Taylor stopped running… Unbelievable. Just one of those plays that leaves you speechless.
Bode – the ultimate team player. Wonderful guy off the field as well. Did you see how the catcher responded after the ball was hit? Priceless.
the bat flip too, Matt Weiters behind the plate knew it too, immediately
I really don't enjoy/like Matt very much, but he did a decent call.
Even as a White Sox fan, I still get chills watching this.
Bottom of the 9th inning, bases loaded, down by 3, 2 out, 2 strikes. The ultimate grand slam.
I took my dad to this game for his Birthday. Our first Cubs game at Wrigley in like 20 years. We were happy to be there and were not disappointed. Although we initially though the game was over, but nope. That was one of the craziest and most exciting moments in my life and I got to share it with my father. It was a good night and a very energetic late drive back to Michigan lol. Once in a lifetime opportunity and got to share that moment with my dad whom I cherish. And being in the outfield Budwiser Bleachers was so awesome, because you could just see that ball and where it was going. Seemed to just hang in the air for a lifetime lol. I never get tired of re-watching this clip.
Recently read a thing about Bryce Harper wanting to come to Chicago years ago. I think his relationship with Bryant helped at the time. I looked at him walk off the field while things were going nuts and maybe this is when he was thinking about that field being a special place to play day in, day out.
One of favorite memories as a Cubs fan. Me and my parents watched this entire game and literally ran around the house screaming at Midnight when this happened
Also a Blue Jays fan. Have no affiliation to either team but is an ultimate baseball moment and it's so good to still relive this one every now and then. Baseball Holywood as others have said.
My all-time at bat, in the history of baseball.
David Bote come back to the Cubs.
Don't know if it's still true, but at the time one of the announcers said that it was the only time in MLB history that a team won 4-3 on a walk-off grand slam. The best part for me as a former catcher is watching the Nationals catcher stand and walk away as soon as the ball was hit. He knew right away.
I don’t watch a lot of baseball live (mostly because I’m a pirates fan lol) but I remember turning on espn on this random night and witnessed it in real time. Not even invested in either team but it still gave me chills.
With the context, that is one of the most beautiful bat flips of all time, up there with Bautista
NO WAY THIS HAPPENED IN 2018!!! 😭
5:22 bill Murray in the white hat is hyped
There's no bigger thrill. 😮
This clip would have been so much better with ANYONE other than this broadcast team….
Pinch hit grand slam in the bottom of the 9th at wrigley and you’re down 3. It doesn’t get any more spectacular than that.
If only there was one more ball
I love how the catcher immediately starts heading to the dugout lol he knew it was over
Its the ripping off his jersey that did it for me lol😂
Just imagine if Harry Caray called this game…
2 balls, 2 strikes, bases loaded, 2 outs. Madson, the pitcher. Bote, the hitter. Trying to rally the Cubs here, down to their final strike. Trailing 3-0. In the bottom of the 9th inning. And the pitch by Madson… 💥⚾️💥
THERE'S A DRIVE. WAY BACK! IT MIGHT BE. IT COULD BE. – CUBS WIN!!!! CUBS WIN!!!! CUBS WIN!!!! HOOLLY COW!!! CUBS WIN!!!! WOOOO!!!!!
EVERYBODY WAITING FOR BOTE TO CROSS HOME PLATE! AND BOTE BEING MOBBED BY HIS TEAMMATES! AND GETTING HIS JERSEY RIPPED OFF BY A COUPLE PLAYERS AS THEY WANT IT AS A SOUVENIR!
LISTEN TO THIS CROWD!!!! EVERYBODY GOING BANANAS AT WRIGLEY FIELD!!!! IT IS A MADHOUSE!!! DOWN 3-0 GOING TO THE BOTTOM OF THE 9TH INNING. THE NATIONALS GOT THE 1ST 2 OUTS, AND THEN HEYWARD REACHES ON WITH AN INFIELD HIT. THEN ALMORA GETS HIT BY A PITCH. THEN WILSON CONTRERAS IN A LITTLE CAT/MOUSE GAME WITH MADSON, HE GETS HIT BY A PITCH TO LOAD THE BASES, THEN IAN HAPP CAME IN TO PINCH-RUN FOR CONTRERAS BEFORE DAVID BOTE. ON A 2-2 PITCH, HITS THE ULTIMATE GRAND SLAM AND SEND CUBBIELAND INTO A FRENZY, AND THE FANS HOME HAPPY!!!
THE BUDWEISER PLAY OF THE GAME, THERE IT IS. DAVID BOTE HITTING THE ULTIMATE GRAND SLAM IN THE BOTTOM OF THE 9TH TO RALLY THE CUBS TO A 4-3 COMEBACK WIN, AND THAT'S THAT. THE BUDWEISER PLAY OF THE GAME!
WE'LL HAVE THE FINAL TOTALS FOR YOU FOLLOWING THIS MESSAGE!!!
That’s an open air ballpark. It was THAT loud.
I have a Bote uniform and still love this moment!
Dude got a 15 million contract based on this. Made out like a bandit!
Just remember this like it was yesterday… 7 years ago damn
This is extremely powerful
Catcher knew it when it left the bat – and he was not happy.
And that wasn't a bad pitch, either. Great location – down, inside corner. That pitch never should have been hit that hard or that far. Bote must have been in perfect rhythm and seeing the ball really well that night to hit that pitch like that. Good for him 👍
Literally every kid has thought of this scenario
The best
2 outs 2 strikes, down by 3, grand slam. 👍
This is why you stay until the end of the game. I was there and wanted to leave after seeing them play so poorly for so long, but I knew that they were still a slam away from winning so I couldn’t leave. My Dad said “do you want to go?” I usually say yes at that point but something told me not to leave early that night. It was an ESPN game. Sunday night baseball so I wanted to ride it out. I’m so happy that we made the decision to stay because we saw history that I’ll never forget that night
