Why is Kirk – an MLB top ten hitter and top 3 or 4 catcher – being "rested" so frequently? What happened to Ty France, who was hot since joining the team? Varland's ERA is now 7.61 with the Jays. It is not April or May. It's September. This is not the time for working out problems. Use Berrios or someone else for long relief.

All I think about the Yankees is that they strategically aim to hit home runs. Consequently, the results vary, and they have failed to secure the trophy. Today's game plan was the perfect strategy they should employ. It was highly engaging to watch. They did not hit any home runs, however, every other aspect was present. They successfully scored first and applied pressure to the opponent until the end. That's how they should play.
I still think it's BS that the catcher blocked the plate like that.
Austin Wells leading the majors in sac flies is an interesting nugget. If he can continue to show the ability to bounce back from slumps and be the bat he has the potential to be he can be a very good big league catcher.
