Another game where Verlander starts and loses
Doesn’t matter who pitches, it is a loss if you can’t score any runs. They can manage only 3 hits. 27 outs and only manage 3 hits. How many Ks? Nationals likely had 1 player with 3 hits vs the entire Giants team. Verlander could have given up 1 run and this is still a loss.

It's not Verlander's fault. What is he supposed to do when the offense can't even score 1 run.
This game was over in the 2nd inning but, maybe it could have been different. BoMel has a chance to change the outcome of that inning by intentionally walking Wood with an open base. He has to pitch to Abrams in that spot. Yes he struck him out in the first but, Wood leads the Nats in HRs AND RBIs. Maybe Abrams hits the HR and the score is the same 4-0 but, why put pressure on Verlander to get out their best hitter.
Legendary NYY manager, Casey Stengle had a saying,…"you could look it up"….meaning there are stats that indicate when you need to think of making moves because stats don't lie. BoMel will never win a WSC the way he manages. Casey won several because his instincts were always guiding him.

Verlander didn't pitch well, but I don't think I've seen a worse day of hitting for the Giants. This almost always comes when Verlander pitches. I can't figure it out.
Every time Verlander pitches it's batting practice for the other team. Why would you bring a pitcher who's 42 and looked bad against your franchise when they met in the world series?🤦♂️

Verlander now 43 can still throw hard but not always 98 MPH. If he gave up this many runs at 39 years old and won the Cy Young award. His team must have had some damn good run support.
