Um rounin chamado Nanashi (que significa \u201csem nome\u201d) salva o garotinho Kotarou e seu c\u00e3o Tobimaru em um templo abandonado. Kotarou n\u00e3o tem fam\u00edlia, \u00e9 perseguido por uma misteriosa mil\u00edcia da China e contrata Nanashi como guardacostas. Entre os que perseguem Kotarou est\u00e1 um homem chamado Rarou, um guerreiro muito habilidoso com cabelo loiro e olhos azuis. Ele obedece um velho chamado Byakuran e \u00e9 membro da mil\u00edcia chinesa.
