Elle craint la disparition de son identit\u00e9 et souhaite se lib\u00e9rer des limites de son corps physique et exister dans le r\u00e9seau du cyberespace. <\/p>\n<p>L&#8217;histoire se d\u00e9roule en 2029 de notre \u00e8re dans la ville maritime fictive de Newport City, dans la pr\u00e9fecture de Shinhama, au Japon. Dans le contexte d&#8217;un monde fictif du futur proche qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9vast\u00e9 apr\u00e8s la quatri\u00e8me guerre nucl\u00e9aire. L&#8217;intrigue suit la protagoniste Motoko Kusanagi, connue sous le nom de Major et l&#8217;agence de contre-espionnage du minist\u00e8re de l&#8217;Int\u00e9rieur \u00e0 laquelle elle appartient, la Section 9 de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 publique.
