El juego se desarrolla en el escenario futuro distópico y post-apocalíptico del planeta Terra, donde las personas exhiben características kemonomimi: características de animales o razas mitológicas. Los desastres naturales que azotan al mundo han ayudado a la producción de un valioso mineral, el Originium, que permite el uso de las “artes” (magia) y, a menudo, infecta a las personas con una enfermedad progresiva, el virus Oripathy. arknights synopsis

The game takes place in the dystopian and post-apocalyptic future setting of the planet Terra, where people exhibit kemonomimi characteristics – characteristics of animals or mythological races. The natural disasters that hit the world have aided in the production of a valuable mineral, Originium, which enables the use of the “arts” (magic) and often infects people with a progressive disease, the Oripathy virus. Due to the 100% mortality rate of the disease and its high infectivity at the time of death, hostility towards those infected became widespread, leading to their mass quarantine and expulsion by governments around the world, and caused tensions between the infected and the uninfected.

The player assumes the role of the “Doctor”, who leads a team of “operators” from the island of Rhodes, a pharmaceutical, medical and self-defense organization. As the Oripathy virus spreads, the team must search for a cure while fending off threats like the Gathering Movement, an infected anarchist military force hell-bent on overthrowing the governments of Terra in revenge for persecuting victims of the Oripathy virus.
