I'm pretty sure the translation is better (especially regarding the Thorfinn wanting to live and Canute bit at the end)
Edit: I've been catching up with the manga (at least to the end of season 1) and its basically the same, with a handful of differences, its a really nice way to refresh on the story
Edit: Couldn't help myself and read Book 5 (IT WAS AMAZING)

I'm similar to sam when it comes to anime taste. I prefer character development and world building over brainless action. Unfortunately most shonen are just power up or power-fantasy stories with shallow characters. Will is right that japan has a completely different taste compared to the west. Seinen are usually more popular in japan while it's shonen in the west. That's why seinen like dorohedoro and mushoku tensei were the most popular shows on the biggest japanese streaming platforms for months while at the same time, the usual shonen stuff was hyped in the west. Seinen have a little more complex themes and topics so they're less appealing for a lot of western anime fans who are mostly into the fighting scenes when it comes to anime.

I could be wrong, but everyone except Thorfinn, Leif, Canute, and Leif are new characters for this arc.
Imma call bullshit on the Amazon narrative. There's plenty of great and thoughtful anime that aren't Amazon or Netflix exclusives that get overshadowed by mindless action-fest and tropey slice of life shows.
If u want to watch more shows made by mappa then I would recommend watching Dororo, Dorohedoro (which is completely cg but it's really amazing),Banana Fish(though it's an BL show but u will definitely like the story) and finally zankyou no Terror
If you want to watch the trailer with good subtitles, you can watch the JP Anime channel they have it with a far better translation (the one you watched is just the automatic from youtube)
I think the uploader of the trailer used google translate for the english subtitles to get more views lol

Man I can't wait! This is one of the few series I didn't read ahead on so I'm going to get to go in fresh. I have heard from readers that I should brace myself to expect less action this season, but that's fine with me. Some of the best parts were when characters were just walking around arguing about religion and philosophy. I'm mostly just hoping Thorfin grows into a better character. Despite being the driving protagonist of the last season, he was easily the least interesting character compared to most the main cast.

As a manga reader for this series I can say with confidence this will be Vinland Sagas best season and arc. And what makes the farmland arc so dam beautiful is how Thorfinn goes through so much character development. He goes from this big ball of anger, to an apathetic person, and finally just trying to be a kinder and gentler person. This is the season where he will be reborn 🔥
I’m a manga reader so it’s fun watching anime onlys trying to figure out who’s who even tho I know all of them so I’m just like “ahhhh I can’t wait for you guys to get to know these characters!!!!!”

4:04 It's just a translation mistake. Canute actually said in 3:54 ~ 4:02 like "If you want to laugh then laugh, but all (I'm doing and I'm going to do)is for the sake of lost love." in Japanese.

This arc is arguably not just the best arc in Vinland Saga but one of the great manga arcs i have ever read. Farmland Saga is a masterpiece.
Though I'll have to warn you that this arc won't be as actioned packed as the first season
