At the beginning of the film, Mike says to Sulley when they’re walking to work together “you’ve been jealous of my good looks since the 4th grade, pal”. This line doesn’t add up with the events of the movie’s prequel, Monsters University. In that film, the two characters actually first meet whilst at college.
