Synopsis : The film begins with an auction at the auction house located at One World Trade Center, Manhattan. There gathered all the famous collectors from around the world to target historical items found in the Arles region, France; one of them is a sunflower painting by the painter Vincent van Gogh which was lost during the second world war. Among the collectors who came, was Jirokichi Suzuki, a family advisor and also an advisor to the entire Suzuki group of companies which are famous for being super influential throughout Japan.
Jirokichi deliberately came with other members of the Suzuki family, Sonoko Suzuki, a friend of Ran Mouri and Conan, to ‘shop for’ a painting entitled Sunflower to hold an exhibition of Van Gogh’s sunflower painting at the Suzuki family’s performance hall called Lake Rock Shinjuku.
Jirokichi ended up winning the auction of the painting with a bidding price of $300 million without a second thought. Sonoko who accompanied him could only shake his head at the behavior of the advisor who was also his uncle. He was only there to serve as a spokesman and representative of the Suzuki nuclear family.
This time Jirokichi took good care of the painting by employing 7 samurai; namely Keiko Anderson and Kumiko Kishi EO professionals for the Van Gogh exhibition, Natsumi Miyadai, historical painting observer, Koji Azuma, painting restoration professional and expert, Taizo Ishimine, who was in charge of transporting all of Van Gogh’s paintings, Charlie, member of the New York police force , and the last one is Kogoro Mouri, the detective assigned to oversee the painting.
