For those who don’t know, Pachimon was a series of novelty Japanese postcards and playing cards released by the company Yokopro throughout the 1970’s, when kaiju were at the height of their popularity. The creatures were cobbled together from pieces of pre-existing kaiju from Godzilla, Gamera, Ultraman etc., sometimes even from modern and prehistoric animals, and set against a real world backdrop. To date, only most of the names of the Pachimon have been translated, but not their stats which are said to be on the backs of the cards.

I’ll be honest, I chose Ninku here because I knew his soundboard was a no brainer. To me, he looks like a golden lion monkey or similar monkey species, so in order to convey a species smaller than a gorilla, like King Kong, in the time honored Tsuburaya and Toho tradition, I reused Gaira’s sounds from War of the Gargantuas. But I also wanted Ninku to make eeks and ooks like a tiny monkey would. I was stuck until I watched a video of Ultraseven battling the monkey alien Goron Seijin, and saw that the monkey footage interspersed with the battle sequence had the same squeal noise Gabara made in Godzilla’s Revenge when he was in pain, and so, here we are.

I hope that clarifies things and I hope you fanboys out there enjoy it~
