THE SQUID FLASHBACKS! – CITY: The Animation (Dub) | Episodes 2 + 3 Reaction

Hello everyone and welcome back to City the Animation. Um, this is episodes two and three. Uh, I think I’m putting these both in the same video because uh, last week I didn’t do episode two. And the reason was because I was sick. I’m still sick. I still have a bit of a cough. If there’s any coughing in this video um, or anything else that shows that I’m sick, I apologize for that in advance. um because uh I still have a little bit of that sickness left over, but I’m healed enough at this point that I’m I’m able to record these videos generally. So, we’re going to be hopefully trying to do both episodes two and three in this video. Um I loved episode one of this show. I I was really excited to watch more. It was actually I sat down to record episode two of of City. Um and that’s when I I think that’s when I realized I was sick. Like I sat down to record it and I was like, “Oh my gosh, something’s wrong.” So um so yeah, I like that that sucked. Um that was unfortunate and that’s kind of when I was like I have to cancel my videos for the next week. Um and I did. But now uh now we’re back. I’ve done a few videos now at this point. I’ve done Apothecary Diaries videos. I’ve done Takabe’s original Originals here. And I did my Dress Up Darling. I did To be Hero X and Witch. So like I’m I’m sort of getting back into it. Um so now this is going to be the longest one that I’ve done so far since coming back from sickness because I’m doing two episodes in this video. I’m probably going to do them back to back without a discussion in between. Sometimes when I do two episodes in a video, I will do episode two and then do a discussion and then do episode three and then a discussion. Um, the reason I’m not going to do that in this video, one is to sort of like minimize the amount of like long talking that I have to do in the video. Like instead of doing it at two separate points, I just do it at one point in the video. Um, or two if you count this intro. Um, and the other reason is I feel like City, this is a gag show. Um, so it’s going to be there’s going to be less that I think will require discussion. It’s not like I’m going to be speculating on theories or anything, or at least I don’t think I’m going to be um, in this show. I think we’re just going to be in for a fun and cute time. So, I can probably just put both episodes discussions together um in one. But um anyway, so sorry that you had to wait a couple weeks for this reaction. Um I hope you enjoy it regardless. This is City the Animation episodes 2 and three. In the Goku Cup finals last month, you all did an excellent job. Got a soccer team. And when we got to the finals, we lost. You know why? Makabe students. We actually are. Say it. Makab. Middle school. We’re only in grade school. Grade school. Students. But when we have Sasigo, what level are we? Makab. We are university students. Yes. You also know Sasigo is our pelle. How about he gets hurt all the time? Mhm. Why don’t we all act as bodyguards to protect Sasiggo from more injury? Makes sense. Why? Why don’t we Why don’t we Don’t we all just act as bodyguards? Protect Sasha. He’s got a point. It does make a lot of sense. Oh my god. Be much faster than us. They’re going to be in like a circle around to win the invitational tournament. A whole country needs to see the real SAS go. Damn it. Oh, is that Sasiggo tripped over a mole? I don’t want to stop working with my favorite manga artist. He’s too brilliant. A I’m begging you. Please, please give Kamabokui another chance. He’s a dedicated guy. The famous Daik Nagonara. What? The way she was destroying each club one after the other. That’s so cool. Leave my depression. I wanted to meet my gosh last and I realized I had captured that time. A do you know that girl? He always swoops in to support us when we keep supporting her with a perfect form that he’s [Music] take a look at I’s desk who put that there a coffee she needs it from the this cup of coffee is freshly brewed I know this aroma he’s drinking it and with how rich this tastes coffee masterara Well yeah he’s holding the the thing and the moment you need coffee day William tell I definitely think her coffee is one sleepd deprived student really worth all this what an active classroom bell ring out in unison with their happy cheers [Music] all right that was city episodes two and three. So, um you’ll forgive me hopefully if um if my discussion is one filled with sipping and two isn’t super long because um uh my my throat is still recovering and um and the longer these discussions go, the more I can generally feel a stronger cough coming on. But um anyway, that was great. That was great. The two very funny episodes um with just it’s strange like I feel like this show also just gives me such like a comforting feeling like I just I I very often just feel very comfortable watching it. Um cuz the characters are cute the it like it genuinely has like some cute relationships in it. Like I think the the friendship between Nagamo, Waco, and um Nikura um I genuinely think they have like a really really adorable um relationship between them cuz they uh I like I I I just I don’t know. I think it’s like you have this relationship between them where they’re like they’re good friends and they argue a lot, but at the same time they also very easily come around to loving each other. And they go between those phases without any reconciliation, without without having anything major happen, which I feel like is is pretty realistic for for great friends. Um and in the same way I mean like I forgot their names but like Etchan and the other girl um the the two in school who it’s like in one episode they were trying to be a god and in the other episode they were like trying to solve world peace or whatever. Um those two uh like have a really cute relationship between them as well where they um they just like are both on the same page and they both are have these sort of delusional ideas but they’re just both playing them out to their natural extremes and then they put it to the side and they never think about it again. And that seems like that’s their whole gimmick. It’s like, oh, they come up with a a silly thing, a silly idea that’s based on, you know, them trying to better the world somehow or or change their life significantly and then they they take it to an extreme and then they go, “Well, we can’t do anything about it and leave it alone.” Um, I really liked in in episode two when they were doing the thing about like being a god and they were like they were coming up with this plan on how they would be a god and then at some point she started to ask very legitimate questions like what if they ask for good health and then uh the other girl was like well we’ll tell them to eat a lot of vegetables. Okay, what if they um what if they like they’re praying but they only pray in their head and we don’t hear what their wish is and like any time that she didn’t have an answer she would just fall asleep and the other girl would be like okay that’s cool like she would she would be like yeah like I I like I like that she didn’t have an answer to it and the other girl was just fully on board with the fact that they didn’t have an answer to it. I think that’s a that’s a very good bit. Um, I think the uh the storyline between the artists, the manga artists and the editor, those the actors who are doing those two characters to me are like really carrying that story line where it’s like it’s a kind of funny story line on its own, but I feel like it relies so much on those actors having the the righta timing and cadence in their delivery. But um but yeah, like the scene where they’re like yelling at each other over over the street. Um just there’s something about the delivery, especially of the artist in that scene that was very funny to me. Um especially since it’s so it’s so stupid like saying, “Hey, your your uh series is canled. This is going to be the last ep this is going to be the last chapter or whatever.” And then as soon as it’s done, you say your goodbyes is coming up to him being like, “I was just kidding. You want to you want to do another series next week or whatever?” Um, it’s like it’s like what? That’s that’s insane. You can’t just And then the implication is like they’d only be doing that until the other artist Naga Nagono Har until that artist is like actually ready to uh to draw, which might only be a few weeks or whatever. You can’t like start a new series in that time surely. But I don’t know, maybe they were straight up like, “Oh, Nagagoara is not ready now. We won’t go with him at all.” Maybe they’re straight up like getting rid of him. I don’t know. Um, but um, oh man, the uh, the joke as well of like the girl who has I think we got her name right, Ro. Rico Iumi. Um, excuse me. Um, her like having her life flash before her eyes when she fell down the stairs. Good joke, right? Falls down the stairs, life flashes before her eyes. She’s actually fine. She smiles at someone. His heart aches, you know, and she continues on her day. She goes to sit on a bench, sees that it’s like wet paint or whatever. Life flashes before her eyes. Um, again, then the guy like passes by, does something with the sign. It didn’t subtitle what he did with the sign, but I’m imagining he changed it from like wet paint to all dry now or something like that. Um, and so she smiled at him, had whatever happen. Then she goes to eat Takayyaki, drops it, and then it zooms on the takiyaki, and it shows the squid in the takyaki and the life flashing before his eyes. That’s a really good joke. That’s great cuz I was like I I was like watching the thing and I was like this is a this is a decent joke but I feel like you got to nail where it’s headed you know and the thing is sometimes I feel like with this show like as much as I like the show sometimes there’s not a punchline like that’s and that’s fine cuz the show is like absurd as humor. That’s the idea, right? And so genuinely, sometimes they’re just doing [ __ ] Excuse me. Sometimes they’re just doing [ __ ] because it’s weird and that’s part of it. So I thought it was possible that it wasn’t leading anywhere. It’s just weird stuff going on. But that was like an actual joke. That was a that was a proper skit, which like not every every scene in this is a proper skit. Sometimes I’m watching it and I’m like, “Oh, what the [ __ ] What’s going on here?” And it I mean it’s it’s a tough kind of humor I feel like because it is like just straight up there’s a bunch of odd [ __ ] happening constantly. That’s what makes these sorts of shows like they can also be like hit or miss for people because sometimes it’s so weird that it’s like you’re you’re not even clicking with it at the time. But um but I think also that’s also part of what makes it like consistently entertaining. I’ve been recording this video for an hour and that flew by. It went by so quickly because each scene is short enough and weird enough that I’m I’m sort of constantly entertained by something. So even if there’s scenes where I’m not laughing as much, I still won’t be bored, which is a a big compliment. Plus, this show this show just looks gorgeous. Like, it is genuinely a a very goodlooking show, and that helps it a lot. Um, and the OP and ED of this show is so good as well. Anyway, um, that’s City episodes 2 and three.
