  1. They are for sure baiting on purpose by leaving Haruto's fate TBD. But yah Ig crisscrossing was just an unfortunate product of having only 13 eps to work with, among other small factors. I just hope this does not mean that Chronos Rebellion will be bricked also if it gets adapted.

  2. Now that the series is complete, I think it's safe to say as a whole that it definitely deserves it's Crunchyroll rating. My only guess is that they tried to make the anime appeal to a more "general" audience so they took MANY "creative" liberties with it that shifted from the original source material. Unfortunately, I think they tried too hard to adapt the series to target "everyone" that it ended up alienating more fans of the series than attracting them.

It's fine if everything wasn't 1-to-1 with the visual novel, because of course they have the freedom to do whatever they want with their Grisaia/Phantom Trigger IP, but the choices that they made didn't seem satisfying to many fans of the series, including me.

I still love Phantom Trigger, but in my opinion this anime was not as good as it "should" have been. At best, there were some decent nostalgic moments… but everything aside from that was just disappointing, unrewarding, unsatisfying, and didn't make sense.

The anime isn't complete trash, because the animation and music was actually really impressive… as well as the superb voice acting, BUT… if someone were to say that this anime is mid or mediocre, I can't really disagree with them because I don't think it's a good adaptation. I'll still buy this when it comes out on DVD/Blu-ray, but only because it's the first of it's kind anime season of Grisaia Phantom Trigger that isn't a film/ova. But again, it's still very disappointing.

They need to redo this anime again and give it the Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood treatment and stick to the source material. It will be MUCH more successful if they do that.
