Caveman Shampoo for the English Dub definitely struck a comedic chord in my funnybone and my 'adorable-radar'.
Honestly, Grace Lu is a perfect choice for Shampoo.
She has spoken the word of "RUH-MUH"!!!

Grace Lu really brings a natural ferocity to Shampoo that I feel was not present in the OG anime. Fitting since she’s going to be doing a more Manga Accurate Shampoo.

I found it impressive that they made the dub va for shampoo to speak Chinese usually they just edit a voice clip. Guess they took a page from alya.
It comes close, but I wish she’d say “Shampoo” instead of “I”.

It's nice to hear Rei Sakuma as Shampoo again, I haven't heard her as a main character in years. I was also surprised by the use of actual Chinese, though it seems Shampoo's new English VA knows how to speak in Chinese, it sounds very natural. In the Latin American Spanish dub, which is the version I watch, it seems Shampoo's new VA also said her lines in Chinese, though I don't know if her pronunciation was accurate.
Speaking of which, Shampoo has a new VA in the LA Spanish dub, which was unavoidable since her original VA, Araceli de León, passed away in 1998 and her second VA, Mónica Villaseñor, passed away back in 2021. Shampoo is now voiced by Jessica Ángeles, which is one of the most prolific dub VA from the last ten or so years, though she actually began her career as a child back in the early 2000s. Some of Jessica's most popular roles in other dubbed media include:
– Anime: Kaguya Shinomiya in Kaguya-sama, Shoko Komi in Komi-san, Perona in One Piece, Wiz in Konosuba, Chihiro in Spirited Away, Arriety in The Secret World of Arrietty (which is funny, because Akane's LA Spanish VA also voiced Arriety in an alternate dub), Yuzuriha in Dr. Stone, Yuzuriha in Hell's Paradise;
– Video games: Princess Zelda from Breath of the Wild onwards, Rio Morales and Black Cat in Insomniac's Spider-Man, Echo in OverWatch;
– Cartoons: Marinette in Miraculous Ladybug, Catra in She-Ra '18, Unikitty in The LEGO Movie;
– Live-action dubbing: Brie Larson as Carol Danvers in the MCU, Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games.
Grace Lu’s accent is much more authentic than the original dub, & I appreciate the use of Mandarin in both sets of performances (though Grace’s sounds more fluent than Rei’s).

I'm kinda glad that they considerably toned down the Chinese affectation for Shampoo. Yes, it was a different time and people simply didn't know better back then.
