Hey guys, it’s been awhile, instead of saying the same thing for the thousandth time (aka finally finish the exam, which for those who don’t know, we have every 2 weeks in med school ;-;) I’ll leave you with a bit of a story of how this cover came to be.
I encounter this particular episode of Love Live! Sunshine!! second season during the time where I feel like I have no control over my own life, everything was going out of hands and nothing goes as I wanted even though I tried to my best in my studies and extracurricular activities. This episode (as well as the episode 8) is by far one of the most relatable episodes I’ve seen in anime, as it explore the concept of failures, the 5 stages of grief, and the acceptance and will to keep going on. All of these left quite a big impact on me considering the real life situation that I was in during this time.
Suffice it to say, as soon as this song was played during a particular scenes in episode 7, I’m not gonna lie, I shed a few tears as the lyric really resonates with me, as the song is all about coping and accepting the failures, as well as wanting to do something new, try out new things. I listened to it again and again, I was filled with a motivation, I want to make a cover that do this song justice. This was a product of 1 consecutive week of work.
Speaking of arrangements, like my previous work (aka Fuuka) instead of focusing on technique, I devote my time into carefully choosing the chords and making a smooth transitions in each segment, I focus mainly on musicality and harmony, this song has many ups and down moment, illustrating the chaotic emotion a person feel during the coping phase of failure, I including the climatic (hopefully) final chorus in a different key to create the “all out” moment like a person letting everything out of their chest . The arrangement ends with the “bell” like sounds in the higher register that was played to depict the sound of quiet sleep in the night, hoping to get up and try again tomorrow.
The recording of this video is far from perfect, as I only have the total of 2 hours of record, thus there is 1 mistakes that prevent this from being a perfect take, there is also an issue with audio clip, which I’ll have to find the cause to prevent it from happening again next time. But overall, this is a cover that meant a lot to me, and I’m proud to have finished in such a short amount of free time that I have. I hope you guys will enjoy this cover of mine 🙂
Since I’ll be very busy till the end of the december, this will most likely be the last piano cover I’ll upload this year, I would like to thank each and everyone of you for watching and commenting on my videos, I won’t come this far without everyone who has helped me so much throughout the year!
