This underrated GEM of a JRPG has top-tier, fast-paced, action-heavy gameplay, but can we beat the entire game SOLO without using psychokinesis? Let’s find out…

🔥 *We release a new challenge run on the first Saturday of every month!* 🔥

RULES:
1. No Psychokinesis – basically anything that drains the purple PK bar is banned. Also, no actions within a Brain Field. Brain Crushes are permitted and mandatory (despite the animation, these are NOT PK skills). Special Object Actions are banned except when mandatory to progress the story.
2. Fresh Save File.
3. Very Hard difficulty.
4. No DLC of any kind, including demo bonuses / collaboration packs / etc.
5. Solo – all party members must be forcibly removed every time they are added in. Also, no Combo Visions or Assault Visions. SAS is permitted and mandatory.
6. No glitches, hacks or mods.

The game is available on PS5, PS4, Steam PC, Xbox X/S & Xbox One. This walkthrough guide footage was captured on the Playstation 5 version.

  1. My reccomandation on short RPGs the Gothic series. The controls in that gam eis a challange itself

  2. Amazing video! I only completed this game a few weeks ago and was really pleasantly surprised! I think its my favourite ps5 jrpg so far

  3. Another huge thanks for all of the kind comments and words of encouragement! 😃

As always, I'll try to respond to as many comments as I can. What game do you want to see us do next? 🎮

  4. An interesting short rpg that’d be an interesting run is Valkyria chronicles with a single unit type (scout, engineer, lancer, sniper, or shock trooper) or only command point characters (Welkin, Alicia, Rosie, Largo, Zara, and Isara) and valkyrie profile using only lenneth.

  5. You can give the Kingdom Hearts series a shot if your looking for some RPG's that are much shorter.

  6. ah awesome to see you do a video on scarlet nexus i played this way to much when it came out to 100 percent defo one of my favorite games of 2021 alongside tales of arise. youe challenge runs are always really fun to watch and shows really strong commitment keep it up your awesome challenge runs are not easy

  7. Keep up the awesome content! Looking forward to more challenge runs and discovering more games!

  8. Saw the video and decided to grab the game myself. Pretty fun so far thank you for the great video and recommendation.

  9. Awesome video as always, I rarely play games on Hard so seeing stuff like this is really interesting.
Not sure if it's possible, but the Voice of Cards games are pretty short rpgs – no idea if you'd find them interesting, or even if they have challenge run potential, but I figured I'd throw a suggestion out.

Thank you for the entertainment, keep up the good work!

  10. I'd argue that every attack either character uses, even melee, is actually psychokinesis. Yuito is flinging his sword around with his mind and Kasane does the same with her bat-a-rangs. She's using her hands to direct them but you can see the psychokinesis energy on both weapons when they're being used. Maybe it'd be possible to play through it without playing solo? Not sure if partners are able to kill bosses, I don't think they can.

I enjoyed this game but I felt the health pool on all the enemies was way to high. I ground enemies for hours only to gain 1 or 2 levels and I still did next to no damage to anything. Maybe it's just the weapons are way underpowered. They do so little damage, they expect you to use the special powers to do 90% of your damage. Melee is only there to recharge your energy. I set the difficulty to easy to play through the last 2/3rds of the game because I just felt like I was grinding and grinding constantly and never making any process. Even when I started new-game + at level 88 with the best weapon in the game I wasn't able to 1 shot the enemies at the start of the game.

There are DLC items that could have helped with this challenge. 1 item gives double XP and another that makes it so you can't die. The 1st just makes the grind a bit easier. The 2nd one is kind of cheat mode, but the game gives it to you so it's fair game. But you said no DLC items.
35:21 — I just noticed you equipping DLC items. If it has a * on it's name it's a DLC item.

Enjoyed your run. You're a lot more committed to the grind than I am. Look forward to future videos.

  11. To be honest, you are gonna hate this. The optimal plug-in set is 3 power enhancements for damage. If you know the moveset of the enemies and play smart this is optimal except for a few specific fights that you need defense instead. More HP is never worth it in games when you can get better defense or attack.

  12. Love the fact you’re doing a variety of different games. It’s refreshing to watch.

  13. Not much for action RPGs myself so I don’t think I’ll pick this game up but it was a great video regardless!

Re: think of a game you’ve beat many times and try a challenge run. I’ve beaten FFIV more times than I can count, and thinking about it from a challenge run perspective I think I’ll try playing the game with no shops, maybe that won’t be enough of a challenge but it’ll cut you off of regular damage output upgrades so I’m interested to see how it goes.

For future challenge ideas, FF III has a lot of extremely niche jobs, that you’re only supposed to have for one boss fight then drop. it would be interesting to see if you could beat the game with some of those “useless” classes, beating the game with a party of only scholars, for example.

  14. You know I don't think I've ever mentioned it but while I, personally, love getting spoilers(I tend to react the same way emotionally either way due to getting into the character and for some story beats it can be helpful in softening the emotional blow) it's nice that you tell us what's going on without spoilers no matter the game. Just not something often done.(Although sometimes challenge runs I watch do the "not an accurate retelling of the story" thing where it's…spoilers but not spoilers? you know.) Definitely adding this game to my "to pick up when I have the cash" list which is…admittedly a long list but it looks fun! I'm trying to think of smaller RPGs I'm aware of and uh…~brain blanks~ The perils of being a completionist and grinder lol. Even the smallest of rpgs tend to well exceed their stated story play time when I'm around…even when I'm not using things like the Three Houses Infinite Calender Glitch(a godsend for my "timed stuff" anxiety lol) to make it even longer than intended.

  15. Only recent shorter RPG that I've played is Chained Echoes. A lot of ways to turn that game into a challenge run
