What really make the scene as sad is how the episode goes. Guts Select members are all comic relief to make any episode seems heavy. But of course, the series is targeted towards kids.

I’ve seen a lot of comments where they are saying the Trigger series is bad and the old ultraman series is better. I’ve completely understand and agree with your opinions, but as a fan of older ultraman shows I can say that the recent ones are not that bad…sure it’s more aimed to children and it’s gotten more childish, but that’s the point. Ultraman was originally aimed towards children, plus the children that were born in recent years are so different to those who were born in the olden days. Children today are way more sensitive than before, where they used to be so much tougher. So, if you don’t like the recent series, it’s fine, but if you say that but didn’t watch it then it’s not ok. The recent shows are actually decent and adds more lore.

Why Ultraman always die
Looking at the direction of the Trigger series and recent Ultras are heading, we won't get such dramatic revelation such as the ones in the TDG series. Tiga, Dyna and Gaia revelation were impactful and they build up to it carefully. It was really a golden age.
