演歌歌手の島津亜矢さんが9月7日、東京都内で開かれた劇場版アニメ「機動戦士ガンダム THE ORIGIN 激突 ルウム会戦」（安彦良和総監督）の大ヒット記念イベントに登場した。「ガンダムが大好き」という島津さんはAYA名義の主題歌「I CAN’T DO ANYTHING-宇宙（そら）よ-」を熱唱。その後あいさつをすると、緊張のためかイベント中にうっかり舞台から退出してしまい、スタッフに声をかけられて慌てて戻る一幕もあった。安彦総監督は「もう一度お礼を言おうと思ったら、（その場に）おられなかった」とからかい、島津さんは赤面していた。
「機動戦士ガンダム THE ORIGIN」は、アニメ「機動戦士ガンダム」のキャラクターデザインや作画を担当した安彦さんの同名マンガを基に描くシリーズ。「激突 ルウム会戦」は、ジオン公国と地球連邦軍の戦い「一年戦争」の始まりとなるルウム戦役が描かれている。全国35館で29日まで公開。

Mobile Suit Gundam THE ORIGIN Aya Shimazu undertakes the theme son
Singer Enka Aya Shimazu on September 7th appeared at the anniversary event of big hit Japanese anime movie “Gundam: The Origin: Battle Of Loum” (executively directed Yoshikazu Yasuhiko), held in Tokyo on September 7th .
Shimazu – who is “a Gundam mania” performed the theme song “I CAN’T DO ANYTHING- uchu (sora) yo -” as her artist name AYA.
After greeting the audience, she must have been too much nervous so that she left the stage so fast while the event was still going on. When the staff called her, she came back promptly.
Executive Director Yasuhiko teased her, “I’m going to greet you again but you are not there anymore”, that resulted in Shimazu’s blushing face.
