作品について / Program notes:
戦車を使った武道「戦車道」が華道や茶道のように伝統的な女性の嗜みとされた世界を描いた2012年のTVアニメ「ガールズ＆パンツァー」の劇中音楽を、吹奏楽コンクールやアンサンブルコンテストでも演奏できるようにフレキシブル編成で再構成しました。本作品は東日本大震災にて大きな被害を受けた茨城県の大洗町が町を挙げてのタイアップを行い、町の復興への大きな原動力となったことは各種メディアでも大きく取り上げられました。
全編を通して吹奏楽的な音楽が多く、親しみ易く魅力的なメロディーであふれています。また劇中の対戦相手のテーマは各国の有名なマーチが使用され、今回も印象的に用いられるイギリスの「ブリティッシュ・グレナディアーズ」を使用しています。
オペラやミュージカルと同様に、この曲も物語性を持っています。メインテーマ、対戦相手のテーマ、友情のテーマ、戦い、そして感動のエンディングと、物語の流れを想像しながら皆さんの戦車道を表現して下さい。

Girls und Panzer [Girls and Tanks] is arranged from the animated film series theme song for band or chamber ensemble contest using flexible instrumentation. The series details the drama surrounding a girl’s interscholastic club competition involving WW II-era tanks. Spin-offs include manga, film, and video game derivatives of this popular entertainment franchise.
The story is centered around the port city of Oarai in Ibaraki Prefecture, which is now sort of a “holy ground” for tourism. Oarai was severely affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, and the subsequent TV premier and fan fan response has become a driving force for the revival of the town.
Famed military marches are used in the series, so this arrangement quotes British Grenadiers.
As with opera and musicals, this is a narrative work. Imagine the main theme, opponent’s theme, friendship theme, battle, and emotional ending, and the flow of the story to create your own musical production.
