This music IS NOT Freddie Mercury’s “The Great Pretender”,
but Yamada Yataka’s “G.P.” which is a modern jazz tasted instrumental music
for a big band orchestra, composed as opening music of the animation
“Great Pretender”(2020) .
この曲はフレディ･マーキュリー氏の「グレート･プリテンダー」ではなく、
アニメ「グレート・プリテンダー」オープニング曲「G.P.」(やまだ豊氏作曲)であり、
歌でなく、モダンジャズ風ビッグバンドのインストルメンタルです。

I wrote this arrangement score for solo piano a year ago.
But piano tones were too shabby especially at some measures
in which thick accords resounded in forte.
I tried other tones in organ groups, only to be disappointed their
punch -less attacks. So I suspended the process of making video then.
However, recently I hear a voice from heaven. It said,
“If each tone is lacking in sufficiency, let them combine as a layer”.
What a simple and fundamental idea I had missed ! But Your Majesty,
which tones I should select ? “That’s your job, not me.”
So I restarted the process. After quite a few trials, finally I could reach
a combination within my own equipment.
To tell the truth, I intended to get more gorgeous, more intense tone,
but I compromised because to seek after too far easily leads to a dead swamp.
Though “B.P.” is a short music, my playing movie seems dull and flat,
so I play pranks on editting films this time.
I hope it helps you to feel something crazy of the original big band music.

この曲のピアノアレンジ譜を作成したのは一年前のこと。で、なんですぐに
動画化しなかったのかといえば、どうもピアノの音だと、特にフォルテの
アコードが重なるところで、物足りないことこの上なかったから。
ならばオルガン系の音なら、といろいろ試してみたものの、今度はアタックが
物足りなくてアコード以外がまるでだめ。
どうも適当な音源がないな、と長らく放置していたのですが、最近になって
天から声が降ってきました。
「単音でだめならレイヤーにすればいいじゃない」。
じつに初歩的なご指摘です。かくて、しばしの試行錯誤の末、なんとか
手持ちの機材で実現可能な組み合わせにたどり着いた次第。
正直、音色としては、もう少し華があって強めの音にしたかったのですが、
そこを追求しだすと底なし沼になりそうだったので妥協しました。
短い曲ですが、演奏風景そのまんまだとちょっと単調なので、映像加工で
少々遊んでみました。原曲のクレイジーなイメージをいくらかでも
お楽しみいただけるなら幸いです。
