Hurricane and storm surge warnings are in effect for Tampa Bay ahead of increasingly likely impacts from Hurricane Ian, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Significant impacts are anticipated — including major storm surge, damaging winds and flooding rainfall.

As of the 8 p.m. advisory, Category 2 Hurricane Ian was located about 130 miles southeast of the western tip of Cuba, with sustained winds of 100 mph. Ian’s movement is north-northwest at 13 mph.
