Venezuela celebrated its Independence Day on Tuesday with a military parade through the streets of Caracas.
Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez and National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez were among the officials who watched military personnel and equipment being paraded through the “Avenue of the Heroes.”
President Nicolas Maduro, who did not attend the ceremony but instead spoke remotely from the Presidential Palace, used the occasion to urge the country’s military to “always remain alert.”
