It’s officially been four years since my first YouTube video! Actually, it reached four years during that Hanamonogatari video, but I completely forgot about it. Here’s to many more! I’ll keep just a few anime videos up for now because I want to edit all my tags again (for the last time), but I’m too lazy to do that now. Also because then I’ll stop having the same number of videos as I have subscribers .___.
School’s entering hell mode for me again, which means no more transcriptions! Forever! Unless I get another free Saturday like today again, which probably won’t happen anytime soon. I expected to be finished with this transcription in a morning, but it took me the entire day… well, a day is faster than a year (for my first transcription), I suppose.
I haven’t played piano for a really long while. I’m really glad my camera broke and I started making Synthesia videos, because I can do all kinds of fancy stuff without worrying about recording quality, memorizing, waking up the neighbours, etc. On the other hand, my piano skills have deteriorated immensely—my fingers hurt when I play notes really fast! What the heck.
In this transcription… I switched around the voices at the beginning a bit. Those first few seconds are by far the best. Everything after that is just a mindless mash of octaves, like at 0:14, 1:05, and especially 0:37. Yeah, I was lazy, bite me. I tried to liven it up by adding a bunch of arpeggios and whatnot at 0:12, 0:48, 1:10, and 0:30. I wanted to make those chromatic passages a motif but they didn’t flow well, except at 1:12. More respect to Animenz, I guess… 0:36, 0:42, 1:04, and 1:11 were real motifs, though. I thought I inserted those pretty smoothly.
Otherwise, the only other interesting things are the 1:00 tremolo, the 1:03 Synthesia triangle leading up to a 5-note 9th (F#A#C#E G, yay!), the little 0:43 left hand melodies (not in the original), and of course, 1:22 (definitely not in the original!). But I mean c’mon, that opening motif is EXACTLY the same in both themes, there’s no way anyone can hold back on doing that…
See y’all in a month or so, after my homework clears up.
