[Music] Let It begin. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] [Applause] Yo, what’s up everyone? Everyone, welcome to Diabolical Souls. The animation block. It’s been a while. Feels It feels like it’s been a long time. Um, salty buttered bags. We was searching YouTube for something with skin in it. The algorithm hates me. Wow. Wow. Well, that’s that’s nice. Um, welcome everybody. Kaiju number eight. This is season two. This is episode six, so 18 as they would call it. But, uh, we’re going to dive into it. People are going to be the panel’s going to be here. Don’t worry about the panel. But who needs them? It’s just me and Goodwin. We know what we’re talking about. Yeah, we’ve flown sold them. We’ll do it. Yeah. Yeah. We’re the We’re the reason why people are coming here. What’s up, Darth? Good to see you. Thanks you guys for jumping in. Uh Doulies, thank you so much for the raid. And um shout out, well, not so much a shout out, but rest in peace, Ace Freely. Ace Freely. Damn, a lot of people are been kind of passing away the last few days. They’re just uh and they’re not like they’re in their 70s. That’s the odd thing. It’s just like Yeah. I mean, we get some, you know, like 90 and then 70 and then um somebody asked and was like, “Man, is it a lot of and I was like, man, you’re forgetting like I think it was two or three years ago. We just it was like all of the famous people just got slaughtered and it was just, you know, they harvested everybody and so uh just picking up some of the uh some of the leftovers. Uh, but I mean, you know, there’s a lot of, uh, a lot of the people that that we would consider famous, um, you know, that were stars. Well, I mean, they’re all getting old because we don’t really make stars anymore. No. No. We make so social media celebrities. That’s what we make now. Yeah. That that work in bubbles. But, but, you know, that broad cultural, you know, that that everybody knew them or at least knew of them. Um, they’re getting a little thin on the ground. Yeah. as I use social media to, you know, promote my channel. But anyway, other than that, um, Mr. Goodwin, how are you feeling? Um, you’re all ticky boo there. Yeah. Yep. I uh Yep. Watch the watch the episode. Uh is is not one of the better episodes. I mean, there’s some cool stuff in it, but uh it it Yeah, it’s a lot of info dumping, a lot of silliness. There’s it like it’s I don’t want to call it a filler episode because you get some information in this episode, but um they’re definitely saving on the animation side. They’re like, “All right, let’s do a lot of exposition, shall we?” A lot of static uh stills there. So, um yeah, let’s get into it. So, episode six of Kaiju number eight, season 2. We start off with the way we ended in the last episode where we got Kaiju 10 here and number 10 talking to uh Hosa um or Hoso and um having a discussion of he wants to you know have that one more battle one more battle and Hoso is like contemplating of you know battling but he’s just like that’s not the battle I want it’s I want to be used I want to like like we’re going get into later on. But um he says, “I want to fight with you.” Yeah. He means that in a much different uh version than uh than what we think. Yeah. Um what’s up? Nick has got the Vaseline on the uh on the camera. It’s very exciting. Yeah. I had to lube up. Sorry. Yeah. And had to wipe down. Yeah. Everyone’s coming in. Everyone’s the manly men have showed up, too. Yes. Yes. It’s a masculine panel. What’s up, Niet? How are you doing? I’m doing good. Uh, sorry I’m late. Uh, no worries. No worries. I literally just got here right before you didn’t yet. So, okay. Cool. Cool. Cool. Yeah. How y’all doing? Good. Good. We just literally just getting to it where we’re looking at Kaiju number 10, having that discussion with Hasho about um going to battle, but it’s not the battle we think it is. It’s the battle of he wants to join him. He wants to be used as a weapon and have that final battle as who wants to know about Kaiju number nine and what we find out from Kaiju number 10 is that he was created by Kaiju number nine. So, anybody want to mention anything uh this little snippet here as we Yeah. Do so do do we think that Kaiju number 10 legitimately wants Hosina to wield it because it wants to work with him in defeating uh Kaiju number nine and all the other Kaijus or is this a manipulation tactic where it knows that uh it’s powerful enough to overtake the body of Hashino? I think it’s willing to take the risk. Um, I’m not It may think it it it uh it can um I don’t know that it’s certain, but I mean given given its other options because it can’t its body is so destroyed it can’t be rebuilt. It’s got nothing to lose. Right. Right. Exactly. It’s all upside for it. I think it’s a matter of Sorry, Nick. Uh I think it’s a matter of respect, too. Like he lost to Hashinu pretty badly. So I think it’s that’s the thing. He wants to have that one last battle with someone that he he actually lost to that he respects to uh in the Yeah. And to see if you know, okay, you defeated me physically. Let’s see if you can do that mentally as well, right? Yeah. Um, obviously not going to say anything spoiler-wise, but I mean, I remember reading this in the manga and thinking to myself, “Oh, well, that just got uh a lot more interesting because number nine, it makes you wonder too about the previous kaiju, you know? I mean, there’s been some some uh some nasty kaiju. I mean, we learn in this episode how I mean, the king of Kaiju number number six uh that that killed um Shinomia’s mother, right? Yeah. The king of Kaijus. Yeah. While she’s wearing another Kaiju suit. Like that’s how powerful this guy was at a 9.6, you know, fortitude. Um so you want I mean maybe I’m not the only one out there that thought did nine create six as well, giggity. Um, but did he deal with the other ones? Like how obvious how long has nine been around and deciding for himself that I’ll just call myself, you know, number nine or that obviously that’s what they called him, but you know, to him he could have been the first one. That’s, you know, my that was my initial thought reading the manga. Um, but I mean Hosha obviously respects number 10 as well because it was the most exciting battle that he’s ever been a part of. Um, and uh, I mean I I if I remember correctly, I thought, you know what, I think I think Kaiju number 10 has a bit of an upside to this. Um, because he’s so bloodthirsty that he’s he wants to use Hosa as um, as like an exo suit, right? He wants to be like, “Hey, make me into you. Let’s let’s fuse. Let’s do a, you know, Super Saiyan fuse and see what happens.” Um, which, you know, should be pretty interesting to see later on. But yeah, I mean obviously you wonder is this a you know spy number is Kaiju number 10 a spy that may he might have an ulterior motive and go now that I have uh a body behind enemy lines again maybe I can use this body to cause some more chaos because that’s what Kaiju number nine programmed me to do. So just interesting thoughts or is Kaiju number nine puppeting Kaiju number 10 at any given time? I think the the interesting thing about Kaiju number nine is that we we have seen it being able to resurrect Kaiju that have been defeated. So it’s not really a stretch to uh for it to be able to create them altogether. Also, it’s named Kaiju number nine because it’s the ninth one that the defense force have encountered, but that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t the first one to exist, right? Um, but that also conflicts with some of the things that we see from Kaiju Number N in that uh in season one, it doesn’t really seem to know the limits of it of its capabilities. It doesn’t seem to understand very much and it’s learning on the fly uh what, you know, h how to defeat the defense force and what it what it’s capable of doing and what what its range of powers and defenses are. So that also pushes back against the notion that it was the first Kaiju to ever exist because it almost seems as though it awoke at the start of season one, you know. Yeah. I mean, again, well, and I think their the the later in the in the episode when they’re their their theory for what’s creating the Kaiju to begin with, um, you know, it seems like it’s a a fairly non-directed process, but that’s why they’re so surprised that uh that 10 was a was a prototype and a creation of nine. Um because the you know it looks like this is essentially just the you know the the energy from from um tectonic plates um you know where there’s rips that that um alters um living things and turns them into kaiju whereas you know 10 is a is an intentional creation and if he’s doing that um and and as they note that the the magnitude of kaiju um over the last few years have been going up. Um, you know, that’s not a natural process. It seems like there’s something at work there. Yeah, the evolution of the kaiju. Um, Niet for $10 sending me a the pair. Super pair. Thank you, brother. I appreciate that. Seriously, I um I think I might have something for you, Niet. I’m not sure. Yeah, you have nothing. Are you sure? Are you sure? You sure you have nothing? I I do. I think I do. Here it is. Oh my god. Oh my god. That is the first time I’ve legitimately been spooked by the Zeno. What up, Zach? Was it the first time? Good. That was not in fact the first time he had been fake news. Look, Nat snappies were a meme in the chat for a reason. I remember watching that and laughing my ass off. So, I was in tears. I was laughing so hard. Amen. That was Oh, Shippy and I were having a ball in that Chad coming up because Yeah. You know, Nia was racist against anything white, so he couldn’t actually look at white panels and realize that I wasn’t racist. I couldn’t see the panels. No, see, that’s what you said. It’s racism. You You just can’t see white for some reason. I don’t speak color. Well, it’s not color, it’s white. Um, yeah. And we the conversation here between the two. I wanted to touch on like do you think like because we were kind of on this topic of Kaiju number nine being like the actual first one. Do you think he’s like like along with the evolution of the Kaiju, but do you think he’s putting them out strategically as like cuz this one there’s only so much uh that he can do as a kaiju and then as we see the kaiju coming like like in the waves, they’re more and more advanced and they’re like more developed like they’re more humanlike as well. like Kaiju number 10 was talking where like Kaiju number two and Kaiju number six were like just like Godzilla type kind of kaiju. So like do you think he was like hypothetically like cuz we don’t I don’t know but like do you think number nine was just like okay let’s send this at them see what they can do with this like see what they can do with that. Okay, I’m going to develop a little bit more. Is do you think like he’s kind of like God when it comes to the kaiju? Really? I mean, I think the thing you need to um you know, consider because I think it’s worth uh questioning or maybe posing a notion of um to Nat’s point, how long has this Kaiju number nine been around? has he been around the entire time and has just been waiting to to play this game or did he evolve again through like these tectonic plates as we learn more about in this episode and then decided to, you know, strike at a particular time because he start seeing all these other Kaiju and is like, well, maybe I’ll start doing this now um now that I’ve learned a little bit more. But same thing, he learns as much as he can through the times he’s battled the defense force, which is only um been happening for um you know a short amount of time really uh in the entire perspective as we know how long Japan has been fighting these Kaijus for. I mean they’ve been fighting Kaijus for um a few hundred years now. So um you know has kaiju been around since the beginning, right? or has he only been around for the last 10 years or whatnot? So I mean it is it is kind of um you know just interesting to think about because we know how strategic he is and now how much of a menace he is right like even Kaiju number 10 goes I know about all the weapons you have in the English but um but yeah think I think the idea of nine I don’t I don’t think nine has been there for the B jump because I think it would have accelerated his his uh his work and and his attacks um you know much earlier when when Japan was much more at risk. Um I think that he’s he’s probably evolved um you know fairly recently and it’s why you’ve seen you know a pretty noticeable change in um the kaiju that are coming up and again the strength of them and so you know that that that this was a natural process uh for a certain amount of time until they just happened to evolve one um you know that that had intellect and and could speak and could do things you know and and then um could learn um you know to a level that that that it can alter its environment and then also alter other Kaiju or create them um and understands energy and all that right that’s that’s a leap of intellect that that clearly you know none of the other kaiju have had um 10 maybe uh just because you know a it can speak and and and it’s aware of of things all that but again it’s said that it was created by nine. So I think I think nine is is a fairly recent evolution. Do do you think also that uh nine was there from the beginning but it didn’t have uh consciousness? It didn’t have self-awareness and it was like instinctively creating uh these kaiju uh and only recently did it did it gain like a physical form you know at that. And so it was like a conduit of power or something. Yeah something like that. And once it gained a physical form, it was able to uh to to gain a form of intelligence. Isn’t there the theory that intelligence can only exist in a a physical form? Like when people speak of AI, uh yes and no. So I mean you can have you can have sensience um or at least the behaviors of sensience um ne without necessarily having physical form. I don’t know you. I guess physical form, right? Yeah. What’s up, Posty? Good to see you, brother. Posty, I kind of agree with you. like cuz it it almost seems like number nine was there from the get-go, but just was gathering intelligence, information, all that all the fun things that it needs to to do to survive and to possibly take over the well or or it had or it had a leap in um logic and thinking because um you know, prior um to number nine kind of coming out and doing its recon um all it’s been doing is is you know potenti eventually creating a stronger kaiju and it fa they fail and then what does it do? It just tries to make another tough one. Um you know and if it did make uh six for example, right? You know then then it creates like a you know a 9.6 six uh magnitude kaiju and that gets destroyed at which point it goes okay maybe maybe I need to stop just kind of one-sidedly playing this game and I need to go and and learn from the humans right and and the fact that that number nine um whenever it absorbs a human it gets their understanding um it wouldn’t have to absorb that many uh to at least get you know like an understanding of of the defense force and and how they behave, you know, from a from a you know kind of at distance understanding which would um recontextualize how it would understand attacking, right? Because then it has some knowledge of how they respond. Now that especially since it has the director um it’s going to be a real pain in the ass. Well, it’s kind of telling that of all the people it decided to take and absorb, it was General Shinamia. It didn’t go for Kaiju number eight. didn’t go for Narumi or Shinamir herself, right? It went for the person who’s in charge of the defense force and uh that that’s why the defense force has to change strategies in this episode, right? Because yeah, Kaiju number nine is prepared for everything they throw at it. Well, the interesting thing is it goes to the the discussion that you and Andy were having um on Dulie stream about like the tricerans versus the the humans that the tricerans may be like ahead um capability wise, but the problem is that humans um can innovate faster. And so you’re kind of in a race between the okay, I’ve I’ve got I’ve got the director and I understand um how the defense force works and all of their tactics right now, but how fast can humans change those tactics or come up with new ones versus kaiju uh evolution? Which one’s faster? Which one’s slower? to to that point in the three-body problem, the Tricolar uh are basically spying on humanity uh using our technology to infiltrate and and learn about our civilization as they make their way uh over to us. And it’s it’s similar to the tactics that we see with Kaiju number nine, right? And why they have to um why they have to mess with us is because they know that that even though they’re far ahead of us right now, the speed of travel, by the time they get to us, we will be ahead of them techwise. And then they’ll they’ll just get wiped, right? So they have to try and interfere with that in some way. Uh what’s up blue collar? Thanks for joining us, brother. Yeah. So so a good movie about Kiana Reeves being an angel. Keep the one with Seth Rogan. Yeah. Seth Seth was actually being not Seth, which I’m like, wow. Okay. But uh yeah, um so the conversation ended off with um with him accepting the terms. So Hosa like accepts the terms and he’s going to use number number 10. Uh even though uh Mina was like saying no, every they were telling him not to do but he went with it anyway. Uh this is where we’re getting them the training. uh Kafka and um Shinamya um being trained uh like they do like they normally do under the guise of um uh what’s his name there? Tommy, I think it’s is is his name. Is it a Tommy or Hagawa? Hagawa. Hagawa vice. Hisawa. Yeah. Yeah. Uh and then he mentions that Gen is like uh going to greet Hosino because Hosino is coming for to have a discussion uh with the with the board about what was revealed in in the lab there. And this is like kind of like a Westside Story meetup here where both sides are near a jet. Yeah. Um so uh this this was interesting. Uh he even he even brought props which he mentions like co like he even brought props. That’s cute. Um and it’s it’s weird because like they have this rivalry one in three divisions and back and forth with the verbal uh jabs at each other. uh you know teasing him about his hair, teasing him about you know the uh the training process that they went through uh how you know he was like always number two or number three when it came to like sniper or like other attributes when it came to the training. So it was interesting little conversation. I I mean I get it. It’s anime. You’re going to put these things in there. Um Goodwin’s favorite parts. Yeah. Yeah. It it reminded me how much I like Hosa and how much I’m starting to not like uh Narumi. Um like Hosa, you know, he he he can be funny, but he takes his role super seriously and he’s always like playing it straight, whereas Narumi just he he has all of the worst tropes of uh shownen like manga and and anime. I’m leaning more towards Goodwin’s side when it comes to every scene with him now is kind of starting to get a little bit irritating for me, but it’s still still fun. Now, do you guys know I was talking to my kid about this out of the two of them, who’s stronger? Because they’re both at like number one, right? No, Nuri would be stronger. Stronger. Okay. I was I was so jealous of Haggaba at this moment. I too would like to hit this child. It’s funny and several others in the head. Yeah, I was like, I totally could see Gibbon doing that. Stop that [ __ ] Yeah, go Leon. So, we get a lot of information out of this board meeting. Um, we got Mina, we have uh Captain I always forget his game, his name. Captain Oata. And uh we have the uh Super Dyke here. Um what’s her name there? Uh it’s Stan’s sister. She’s got the braces and everything. the she’s the seven um Igarashi. That’s her name. Yeah. Yeah. Um she has braces and she’s always angry when she talks like what do you mean we just like I should it is South Park season one and two. You better not be napping when we’re doing this. I see you there with a lollipop. Like it’s just like okay settle down like relax. Um and he just you know keeps poking at her antagonizing her. So the conversation goes on like obviously division 3 has a lot of information uh where they you know divulge that you know number nine developed number 10. They talk about the Tatonic plates and the in the earth’s crust. They talk about you know them being in like possibly in between the Eurasian and Philippine uh sea. Yeah. The tectonic plates where they’re Yeah. All that information being thrown out here. Um, and they’re all I don’t want to say theories, but they’re kind of they’re just throwing theories out there. Yeah, they’re just kind of they’re just kind of it’s the Yeah, it’s the this is Yeah, this is what we think is happening, but you know, and and oh, by the way, we think it would be in this area. And so like, well, yeah, it took us years to find them. And oh, by the way, they’re still where people can’t go, so what the hell are you going to do? Yeah. Uh, Captain Yugata is like one of my favorites. He’s just like he’s always sipping on on the booze and just reminds me of Blue, not going to lie. He kind of reminds me of Kashi from Naruto. Yeah. Naru for Yeah. But yeah. Yeah. I like this entire scene cuz like they basically say like what do we do? Just wait for it to attack. Yeah. And that’s more terrifying itself than nine. We can’t track it. We don’t know it next move. What can we do? Nothing right now. Well, I mean, they say nothing, but like Goodwin stated earlier, like they have the director, um, uh, what’s his name? Shinami. And so, he knows everything like the number nine has all that information, but what he doesn’t know is the new batch that they have, the training, and the other stuff that goes along with it. So, they’re gonna have to level up all these traineees and get them ready to t take on the the new Kaiju. Um, yeah, you’re gonna have to reinvent your your defense force response and and how it’s organized and and the tactics and and strategies that they use because they can’t they can’t go by the old rule book because that’s now known and and would be easily defeated. What? No, go ahead. Oh, no. In terms of tunes and doing nothing, yeah, right now there’s no offense. No, we just have to wait for them to attack and see what they can do next and just hope we’re ready for it because Yeah, it’s Yeah, you have to prepare to react, but your reaction has to be different than and and unknown um to the uh to the director. And the the big spill here is what we get from this is um the discussion of putting in the kaiju number six suit for a student and it’s revealed that it’s well there’s the there’s shutap captain of the softball team. Um she is definitely wearing comfortable shoes. Yeah, she’s she’s screaming like um all the time. But then it’s it’s revealed that there’s a new student that can take on the um Kaiju number six suit and it’s Reno. Reno his development has been exceedingly surpassing everybody and super fast on where he’s where he started from. And we see him in battle here and just kicking ass in the wild side. Um and Captain Yugata is just like this is not a good idea. uh everyone’s kind of sitting back questioning it because of what the suits do to these individuals like it it’s a lot to take in, right? And the understanding of how powerful number six is. Yeah. King of the Kaijus they say. So um and then we have the meeting we have Yugata talking about you know how was Kaiju number six was taken out by with by Shinamia and that battle uh with all the Hanju with it like it was like extremely extremely powerful um kaiju uh it took a lot it was like I think they said mentioned like it was a doomsday and she was like she was a student at the time the the assistant to Yugata So, uh, Sebru number two or Sebru number two. Seebrew. Seebrew for $2. Wicked 2 is coming out soon. Gu, get your taffy. Oh my. Oh, yeah. Ah, shite. Thank you, Sebru. Uh, no worries. It’s all good. Um, so yeah, we get all this all this information thrown at us. Even though this episode’s kind of like I don’t want to say a filler, but it’s like um a combination of just an information dump filler. Yeah. A little bit. Yeah. Yeah. It’s providing more backstory like no, you know, more of how um Mrs. Shomia died. Yeah. I mean, we got you’ve got uh backstory and a bit of color of understanding, but also you’re doing setup. Um you know that that that Reno is is going to interface with six. We’ll see how that works out. We know that um Hosa is going to have to interface with 10 and we know that um youth is going to be served. Um they’re going to have to to definitely shake things up um and change a lot of tactics and behavior. So, it’s it’s it there’s not a lot of action and there’s some definite serial filler um in this that, you know, I could have done without or or it it uh it actually negatively affects some of the characters that are involved. But um yeah, they’re they’re doing the setup that you know cuz we had our kind of a pause and breathe um episode and then now we’re we’re going to start setting things up for the next go. Yeah. The the training arcs which is coming up. Um and this is a good scene here where Captain Yugata is like uh I I’m not allowed to really technically say this, but I’m going to say it as a human being, as a man. I highly recommend that you don’t do this taking on the suit uh the suit of kaiju number six. Uh because he goes through all the steps that it that go with it of losing your life. Uh I think he mentions like a very small I think it’s 5050 of people that do this like um come back. So you have a 50% chance of surviving just on that alone. Yeah. And and because of the frequency of Kaiju showing up and the magnitude means that you’re going to deploy more, which means your likelihood of surviving is even less. Mhm. Yeah. And also Jay, like looking at his stats, they said he does he’s growing rapidly, but like he’s rookie number one, he’s young, and he says his entry level exams were average. Yeah. So it’s like does he had he his DNA happened to match up with Kaiju number six’s DNA, but he’s not like their all-star pupil. He’s by all accounts just a regular soldier. Yeah, they said that he was overlooked um because he was just nothing special um in the testing. So So put putting this kid in this the most experimental suit of the most the most powerful monster to exist. That’s a big gamble. Yeah. No college, no nothing. Just like a Yeah. Huge gamble. So yeah, I mean there’s not much to this episode besides the big information dump in the in the director uh the board of directors. There’s some bad animation. I yeah, it’s simple animation. We get this part where he actually gets the suit on and they just put it on his arms to start and we see that like how much pain he goes through with this process. Um, and yeah, I do like the bit where he goes, “Oh, this is this is what Sensei has to to suffer through every day trying to control this thing.” Oh, that’s a joke, too. We sh this to a kid who can’t even buy booze. Yeah. Um and and he asks him a couple times throughout this episode and he and he and internally he’s like he didn’t even blink. He didn’t even hesitate. He’s going to go through with it and he has he said he has that look in his eye. Um yeah. He’s also worried that that Yeah. and and maybe with reason because I mean if you get if you get exposed to that kind of power and you’re not intimidated um and in fact are like no I’ll do it either uh you aren’t aware of of the dangers which should scare hell out of everybody or um it’s attractive which should scare the hell out of everybody um right that that either he likes the idea of of having that kind of power which means that I’m not sure I can trust your your mental stability or you don’t recognize the threat which is disconcerting as well. That’s that’s a cliche. It’s like either two things. Either either you’re stupid or you’re crazy. Yeah. Well, there’s also the part where he mentions Kfka and he says like um he’s he’s going through with it. He’s accepted to be you know kaiju number eight with you know the defense score and but he’s going to look after who’s going to look after Kfka. So like he is like in that mindset of always trying to support Mhm. Kafka. Like he’s like I need to be there for him. Like he’s an extremely loyal individual. Yeah. But they don’t but they don’t necessarily know that. Right. What all they’re seeing is that this guy has no hesitation and they’re like I don’t know about that. Yeah. He’s learning real quick with the power of Yeah. Number six. He Yeah. He understands like, “Oh man, this is what you go through now.” I understand. Yeah. This is some cool animation. Yeah. I like the effects all from this. Yeah. Super awesome. See, this is this is what reminds me of Naruto. A lot of this stuff. Yeah. Yeah. When um the nine tails is uh looking at Naruto. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yep. It’s going back old school animation here. But yeah, but you’re right, goodwin. The animation here, there’s a lot of they they didn’t have to spend much money on this episode because they just they just a lot of I wouldn’t even say like I mean there’s a lot of just stills. Uh you know, they the the when when you’re going to have like the well, you have the big argument between the two groups, it’s literally a still with inset heads that that talk and that’s it. And well this yeah like this stuff like it’s just easy animation. This is a little trickier but like it’s not that hard but um yeah just a lot of like probably fours, fives, sixes like just Yeah. Yep. That and some of those. Yeah. But yeah, it’s it’s a pretty simple episode. Like I I I knew going into this we were going to probably whiz through it because there’s not a lot to it. But again at H for I can always forget how to say this guy’s name. IU Iharu Iharu yeah I think yeah um again loyal but also competitive when it comes to these two like he always like he’s always been on the top of his field and now he sees development of Reno and others and now he feels like he’s being left behind and those competitive juices are you know flowing in him and he wants to be better and he respects the hell out of Reno. Um, so that it’s kind of the irony here where Reno’s, you know, super loyal to Kafka and Ayuru is the kind of like really really loyal to uh Reno. Yeah. It’s that it’s that, you know, Yeah. the guy that you train with that that you compete with that that kind of becomes teammate even though you still have that competitive thing, you know, between the two of you. He was to help Kofka early on though. Yeah. uh referring to Reno and Reno. Yeah. He was trying to keep him calm. He didn’t want to expose he kept on saying you got to keep composed. Don’t lose your don’t get emotional because you’re going to lose it and then you’re going to expose yourself to the defense core and then yeah all he was trying trying to help him, you know, get to his dream which is to to fight next to Mina. Almost like his conscious like the little Jiminy Cricket kind of Yeah. Um, and then the captain was there as well. And then asked them again like, “Do you want this suit?” And without hesitation, Reno said, “Yeah, give it to me.” Yeah. He even says he he won’t live to see his teens. But even if I tell him that, doesn’t seem as though it’s going to change his mind. I I do like his uh uh his his leader like Mhm. Yeah. Captain uh Yukata or Yeah. Got that? So, yeah, we And that’s pretty much the episode. That’s where we end right there. So, yeah, really short episode. Um, yeah, it moves quick, too. Actually, actually, it’s longer than you think it is. Um, because when I was watching, I was like, this is going a bit and I looked up and I was like, no, this this is a longer episode. It’s just that not much happens in it. Yeah. And and that kind of makes it uh feel like it’s going faster. Um I don’t know I felt it short to me but it’s if you take out the intro it’s kind of like 17 just under 18 minutes. Yeah. Yeah. But also for what is they do implement a lot in terms of like we do have you know kaju number 10 also new kid getting kaji number six also information dump about the director and nine. So there is like a lot going on in terms of like the you know the setup. I’ll say this as well. Um, like where we’re at story-wise, um, you know, uh, and I was mistaken as I found out when I was talking with the doulies. Um, this is an EP, this is only an 11 episode season. Um, there is no 12th episode. Uh, unfortunately, yeah, I I did some research, which is really weird based on where this season leaves off, not saying anything. Um, but just for context purposes, um, you know, the place this season ends is at the end of, um, manga volume 7. There’s 14 m uh, manga volumes out there. So, my guess is we’re probably going to get two more seasons out of this, unless they just combine the next seven volumes into one, you know, longer season, which I would be okay with that. But same thing, I don’t know what their budgeting is like. I don’t know what they really plan to do, but um it’s a two-parter from what CBR is saying. Interesting. H got does the same thing. It was a two. They have a two-parter. So, I’m wondering if they’re going to still I mean, even even with the next 12 episodes, then like I wonder how far they’ll get. I mean, they might unless they really speed things up, which it doesn’t seem like they have been. I mean, if they uh cuz the way the way season end ones is we’re already in um uh volume five. So, this season has only gone through like two and a half volumes, which is they call they call this break I because the GIA did the same thing where I thought it was done at 12, but like it’s continuing and it’s called a chorus break. C O R a core. Yeah, yeah, chorus break. So it’s um which I mean it it’s like what um uh Bleach’s Thousand-Year Blood War does there. Each each is a a core. So they’ve got like core one, core two, core 3 was the most previous one. So core four is the next one that’s coming up um sometime early 2026 I believe. But that would make sense. Um thank you for clarifying Cebu. Um, but yeah, it’s I mean I think for Yeah, that makes sense. The summer break. Um, but like yeah, this is like a bit of a setup episode like Goodwin said. Um, but I think it it definitely poses some some interesting questions, right? Because I mean, how many people thought Reno Ichawa was going to be the one to get the most powerful kaiju suit out of them all, right? I mean, not to say that he didn’t show any talent in the first season, and obviously they made it seem like he was going to have some sort of impact, but for him to get the the most difficult one that is going to, you know, increasingly shorten his lifespan compared uh you know, a lot more drastically than the other ones, you know. I mean, think about uh director Shintoya um getting Kaiju number two’s power gauntlets and he got to you know live to be an older adult. I mean Reno would lucky to be what maybe 20 at that point. I mean I think he’s like 16. They they said he’s 21 when they were at the board. Was he 21? He’s 21. Why would they say he’s his teens then? I thought Yeah, I thought they said it was No, in the director board they said he’s 21 with no college. He’s young. So So they’ve been in it three years already cuz he was like he was like just 18 when he when he got in. I thought I wonder why it would say like Yeah. Um he won’t live to see his teens. I have to go back and check. I wonder if that’s it could be like a translation. Yeah. I I can’t wait to take the uh but I think it makes sense for Ishikawa to get it because there’s nobody really left that we’ve been as deeply invested in. So we’ve got uh Shinamir who’s already gotten her power up like weapon. You’ve got uh Hosa who’s going to be getting the suit of like Kaiju number 10. You’ve got Narumi who’s already got like his kaiju powers. You’ve got uh I forget her name, the one that Kfka is always after. Who’s Ashina? Ash Mina. Yeah. Like she’s already got her suit. There’s nobody really left that we’re as deeply invested in as those characters. So it’s it kind of makes sense that Ichawa is is getting the next one that. So, I mean, this this is one of the the tropes that that I mean, a lot of shows do this where it it irritates me a bit where it suddenly, you know, uh people that that that uh I just bumped into uh suddenly they’re one of the chosen ones as well. um you know that that uh and not through either um you know relation you know because oh well you’re with him so yeah we’ll we’ll suit you up you know as well um or you know Hosa who’s clearly um at a ludicrous level and so you would look and go yeah I mean you know you give him you know the idea of of him working with 10 makes sense but that uh I don’t know we just found this genetically compatible guy that just happened to be your buddy. Um, you know, Kofka. Boy. Oh, isn’t that a surprise? That always feels a little cheap to me. Um, you know, that that the the it’s all the familiar people, they suddenly get superpowers nobody else uh does. It’s not just random putts from from somewhere or at least you try random putts first and and it destroys them, you know, to raise the stakes or something. Well, I would say let’s go around the horn and ask you uh what we think of the episode, but I pretty pretty sure we pretty pretty much nailed it all. There’s not much more that we can really dive into unless there’s something you guys want to mention. Um because this is kind of a quick episode. Uh anybody want to mention anything before we kind of close this out? Just in TV, TV show, anime, everything. Some epn would have 15 episodes. Some are fillers and not all fillers are bad, but some episodes are just slower than others. That’s how TV and anime goes, guys. Yeah, it’s I was just going to say it’s nice to see Jakawa back. Uh it was really missing him and the rest of the defense force. Would really like to see them being integrated into the main storyline a bit more because I’m I’m not a major fan of a lot of the new characters we got in this season, but we’ll have to wait and see. Yeah. Yeah. They kind of actively they’re actively undermining them because like all of the the heads of the defense forces, you know, the the the different divisions u with the exception of Mina um seem to be either [ __ ] drunks or or you know just going to look around stupidly. Um, and that also, you know, Narumi, uh, is he’s he’s annoying because again, it’s it’s like a child that needs to be spanked desperately. Um, thankfully, we have Hagawa. He’s he’s all right because he doesn’t put up with [ __ ] Uh but yeah, there’s been um it’s kind of been underwhelming this time and I think we haven’t spent enough time with with any of like um Numi’s team uh to decide whether we liked him or not. We spent no time with his team, right? Like Yeah, we had we had like the one thing where it was like, “Oh, she thinks she’s gonna beat me and it’s cute.” And the the lesbian uh kind of interactions there. Yeah. Um, well, all that being said, you guys, like that’s pretty much it for tonight’s episode. Uh, do you guys want to mention what you got going on this week? Uh, Blue Color, you got anything going on? Um, let’s see. I know Nadia is doing her stream uh for your charity stream. And yeah, I’ll probably make a video on Good Fortune. I do want to see um Black Phone 2 tomorrow. But yeah, and yeah, I’m always just popping up whenever you guys need me to much or when doing something or Nick. I just kind of just been guesting everywhere. Well, late night’s in a couple hours from now, so we’ll be doing that. Uh, Niet, what you got going on, brother? What are you reviewing tomorrow? Uh, we’re covering The Mist, the Stephen King adaptation. Um, and, uh, yeah, Badgeren right after that. Um, I’ll be jumping on Fernadia stream for a bit. Uh, and then late night with Gu and FCE live Sunday night. Nice. I’ll be there for FAC for sure. Um, uh, Nick, what you got going on? I know you’ll be at late night and uh what else you got? Couple hours. Um yeah, I’ll be uh popping on Nadia’s uh charity stream um for a bit on Saturday. Not sure when yet, but obviously sometime within that 8 hour range. Um and uh I might have time to make some videos tomorrow for once since it’s been like two or three weeks since I’ve been actually had the spare time to make videos. So psyched for that. got a couple ideas, but um we’re going to be doing the Terminator on uh Masculine Mondays. Uh definitely looking forward for that. And then uh Tuesday, continuing with Trendy TV uh TV Tuesdays for Dark Wolf episode 3. And uh that’s been uh a great time covering a great TV show. And um I I I’ll say quickly, it does say in the manga, we’re trying to push this on that thing off onto a teenager referring to Reno. And it doesn’t say anything about him making it out of his teens. It’s like a different translation. So yeah, same thing. It could have just been like a something that they added in like the English dub or or missed. But anyway, yeah, he’s he’s a young lad. Yeah. To boot, so I mean he won’t live to see his his 20s maybe is what they were trying to refer to. But um yeah, damn translations. Mhm. Uh Mr. Goodwin, what you got going on this week? Uh yeah, I’ll be on uh I’ll be on NATS for The Mist. Uh are we watching it in black and white the way that that movie really should have been? We’ll be watching it in color. Son of a [ __ ] Uh then uh Saturday I’ll I’ll probably be on Nadia’s uh stream for for a little bit and uh then FCE live and then uh Terminator on on Monday. Nice. Uh, and as for me, you guys, you can check out my anime shorts that I’ve been pumping out. And um, we’re going to be doing Late Night with Gu in a couple hours. So, swing on by for that. It’s going Well, that is a lot of fun. We have a blast on there. Maybe a couple of these guys want to join. It’s up to them. And then, um, normally I’d be on NAT stream, but I got asked to co-host on New Black. Uh, and I got asked a couple weeks ago. I forgot all about it, but Atrea asked me to come and co-host with him. So, I’ll be on there co-hosting um as a as a white guy in a black street. So, you’re Italian. Yeah. Are you going blackface? Well, please do. No. Be hilarious. No. Um but uh other than that, yeah, coward is right. Uh you guys go subscribe to everyone here. Go check out their channels. It’d be greatly appreciated. Thank you for joining us, chat. I appreciate you a ton. You guys, I hope you uh swing by for the late night show because that is that is honestly a lot of fun. We’ve been having a lot of laughs on there and I got some doozies tonight. So, you might want to share the stream and get as many people in there because there’s some really good topics we’re going to talk about tonight. But all that being said, stay Gucci.
