Hello everyone. Welcome back to City the Animation. This is episode 11 out of I believe 13 in this show. Um I’m really looking forward to jumping into this. I love this show. We’re coming towards the end I think of the whole series which I’m I’m very sad about that. But um but I wonder like I’m imagining you know we’re going to have some some silly stuff going on. But I wonder what like the last episode’s going to be. Is it going to like wrap up? I mean, I imagine it’s got to try to wrap up some of these story lines, but it also could just be like a and life goes on kind of story, you know? Um, it doesn’t need to do like a major sort of finale since it’s it hasn’t really been a story show necessarily anyway, but there are a few character things that are going on that I would like to see how they play out. She’s just like putting together this like candid video. She’s so cheeky. Nico has never given into nasty peer pressure before and never will. It’s so funny seeing the how it’s set up on a tripod. This city is perhaps the safest place that I’ve ever been to. Really? That makes sense. Say it might in the world. I mean, this city is the only place where people bother to I feel like it’s not safe for the weird cat fox thing. This is heaven on earth. Nice. Except there’s a wanted poster out for him. And right now, my biggest problem is that there’s an active bounty on my head. Yeah, that’s what I’m saying. It’s not as you might think. Who is this? A beaver? No. minutes. We’ve seen we’ve seen a success just nice to them. Japanese wolf. Japanese wolf right in front of my eyes. And it would be good for Nagamo if you let Nagamo catch you. She gets the money. Glad you get Okay. Okay. Calm yourselves. Nobody’s panicking. This is a since you strange story or something. This guy. What the [ __ ] What is he? What is he supposed to be? Great question. We got no freaking clue. Go. Do you know what it is? I love all the different accents. And only this thing, my is certainly unsafe. Why? Why? Why is it unsafe for him? What’s going on? They will be given less than 30 seconds to complete each of their moves. Okay, let’s begin the match. Now it’s time for game seven. Tonnie commentating here. And I’m Lori. Thank you. But I guess this is what tournaments like this. Pawn second player 84 pound cake. Poundake. Wow, that came out of nowhere. Fourth D. Certainly surprising, but they have like a metallic like like a magnetic counter. You could call it a for a rashima eighth dan here. CTV the bottom surprisingly. Look at the heart rate monitor. This commentator is very cute. First player 85. This is a great concept for a skit. This move would be categorized as confusing instead of surprising. Second player 564 giant pawn. So, first player 656 flat pawn. Flat pawn. Here we go. [Laughter] 556 giant pawn. And by pulling his pawns back, but that’s not much of a counterattack. Second 765438 fried prawn. My god, a fried prawn. It’s perfect. That was a genius move. The perfect size. I think he predicted that. You see now the piece normally would leave gaps like this. Indeed. And just look at that incredible form. Amazing stuff. To get that bendy piece prepared in advance. Terrifying. This is so stupid. I love it. I love to witness. Let’s take a quick peek over at Arashim’s heart rate. This woman’s voice as well. So impressive. 7845 layered donut. Oh my god, it was promoted. I’ve never seen any turn the poundake into a donut. It’s all falling into place now. But controlled by the cop on the surf. It’s going wild. The machine can’t keep up and takes the bishop in his hand. Oh, he twists that as well. I forfeit the match. Oh my god. Game over. After moves to decide the victor eighth Dan has now won the match. That decides prizing cup. Most of the pieces are still on the board. Eighth Dan. They’ve barely made any progress. See you next time. That was [ __ ] insane. I really liked that. Just have to add Mambo number five as the background music. And I should Mambo number five. Wild. That would be awesome. Who’s going to watch that? There’s no way they have the right to Mumbo number five, right? That’s not I’ll put Mambbo number five over it in the background. Where did you get this unshakable confidence of yours? And wait, you’re going to get the license to mambo number five. The best I can do for you is a sneeze. Then let’s film you sneezing. Now we’re cooking. Wait, no need to worry. I’ll just put Mambbo number five in the I guess I five, huh? That’s right. You’re unstoppable. There’s something else we could try, too. It’d be so funny if this ended with them getting a copyright claim here. Oh my god. Hit that like and subscribe button. Punch line. Now, I mean, there was a part of me that really wanted to hear them actually play Mama 5, but this there was no way. It would have been so funny, though. So, I liked hearing her sing it. What do we have? Take a look. It’s mostly random things from some new customers. Time to add them up. Don’t mind. They might still be very rare stuff. Me, but this must have been a joke. The guy left a dirty stuffed animal. Is it like really rare? Let’s kick off this celebration with a word from our team captainship by nailing a nailbiting hattick. I like how this guy knows like the history of [ __ ] so well. Um I just want to really quick see did Did this episode credit the um the voice actor of the of the commentators? Do I see them anywhere here? Let me just see. Uh, not it doesn’t look like directly like it has additional voices, so they’re probably among the additional voices, but I don’t know which one which ones are playing the commentators. Um, oh, Max Middleman was in this episode. I feel like I I heard his voice somewhere, but I don’t remember where. Um, anyway. Oh, he might have been one of the like bor the bored guys saying bonjour. Like I I was trying to like there were there was some recognizable voice actors there. Anyway, um that was a that was a great [ __ ] episode. Um I there was like just like there were two things in it specifically that I thought were like really great and one was the whole Mamo number five thing. I think it’s just like it’s so specific. I think it also helps that it’s like a western reference rather than a Japanese reference. So, it’s so much like it’s some it’s something that I’m in on the joke of at least, you know, uh as opposed to a lot of uh a lot of gag anime and even a lot of City will make like Japanese references, you know, and um and so it makes it more difficult when you’re watching from overseas um to, you know, to pick up on just how funny what they’re doing is. Um, but at least this it’s like they’re choosing an oddly specific song and it’s an oddly specific song that that uh that I know and a lot of the western audience knows. I think so. Um, but it like I was it it was very funny cuz I was like, “Oh my god, they’re they’re setting like they’re saying this song so much. I wonder if they’ll actually play the song.” And then the segment ended and they didn’t do it and I went, “Okay.” So they, you know, they weren’t gonna buy the rights to the song or whatever. But then at the end of the episode, there’s like mumbo mumbo number five playing over the thing. I think it’s the I think it’s the original Mumbo number five that’s playing over it, not the like not the uh you know, the more modern one that that most people know. Um but uh but anyway, it just it’s very funny that they set up they they set that up the whole time. Um, I just I I was just like very delighted when they did end up showing it there. Um, and uh I mean the Waco and the manga story line was very good where it’s like Waco’s there at the mangaka thing and is like going back and forth and she’s having to do all the dialogue between them. And I like that towards the end she just starts doing all of it without consulting them and then looks at them and goes, “Is that about right?” And they just both nod. It’s like it’s very funny, but it’s also very cute, I think. Um, but I think the funniest part to me, I mean, that shogi match show like that was so funny to me. I I like I there’s something about it that really tickled me of like the, you know, I think, you know what makes it really really work is like that they didn’t do it over the top. that instead it’s like they’re doing ridiculous things, but you have these calm commentators like just like commentating it as if it’s the most normal thing in the world, you know, instead of like I feel like a lot of the time with I would expect City to do the joke of like the commentators being like, “They put out a car. Is that even allowed? Why is that happening?” And like just screaming the jokes, you know? But with this one, just having these two like ultra calm commentators like just be in awe of what’s going on and and it’s like all expected moves is very funny. I I really like that. And just like one of them having like a a large shogi piece and then one of them like putting a flat shogi piece on the other side is is so is so good. Um so yeah, that that bit made me laugh a lot. I I really liked that part of the episode. Um, but uh something that was surprising is this episode didn’t have any Matsuri and Etchan in it. Well, it had a bit of Etchan walked past the hairdresser or whatever and said hi, but like it didn’t have a story line with them in it. I feel like we’ve had one of them like every episode it feels like. Um, and this time we didn’t, which uh, which you know, like we don’t we don’t need one every episode, but as I have said in the previous episodes, like the way they’ve done the anime has made it feel like they’re like the the kind of the main characters of this show. Like as opposed to the manga, which you know is apparently has like Nagamo and Nikura and Wako are supposed to be like the main characters, especially Nagamo, right? And like Nagamo does give me the vibe of the main character of this show still, but in terms of like how much we’ve seen of their story. Um, it does feel more like we’ve seen a lot of Matrichan and that it’s been a major focus on those characters. So, them not being in this episode at all is is surprising to me. Um, but that’s fine cuz I’m I feel like we’re certainly going to get um some good Matsuri and Echan stuff coming up considering we’re coming towards the end of this show and they’ve they’ve really set up those um that story line is quite sweet and I I want to see how it plays out. I don’t know how like what will be a satisfying ending for me, but I’m just like cuz I’m going to be so sad when they have to leave each other. But well, we’ll see. We’ll see what ends up happening. Anyway, um that’s uh City of the Animation episode 11. There’s not much to talk about for me this episode. I just had a great time. Uh thank you for joining me.
