Kyle, Orza, and Lisa take advantage of this chance by sneak attacking both demons with Kyle managing to cut off one of the male demons horns. Knowing that it is a symbol of pride to the demons, Kyle manipulates the situation in his favor by calling a temporary truce. He challenges the demon in a duel 3 days later where if they win, they can keep the horn and holy sword. But if Kyle wins, then they will have to reveal the information and identities of every demon that has infiltrated human society. The demons retreat, promising to return in 3 days. Miranda and Go are overjoyed to see Gazus alive. Gazus admits that Bax threatened Miranda and Go’s lives to get him to ignore the kidnapping of Karan’s citizens and eventually forced him to cooperate. Kyle manipulates Gazus to let Theren keep Rand by pointing out that they have saved their lives three times. He also provides Gazus with Mithil from Selonia’s labyrinth to forge an item he needs for the duel. Kyle secretly asks Theren to kill both demons if he loses the duel, just in case they target Karen again. Kyle goes to see the magic circle that is about to explode because of the overflow of mana. He gives Selonia the divine dragon’s heart and asks her to transfer all of the mana in it since its capacity is far beyond the unstable magic crystal. She also reveals the demon’s earthmoving spell wouldn’t have worked anyway as there is no more ore underground to refill the mine with. 3 days later, Kyle duels the male while Za and Lisa duel the female. Having seen their previous fight, the female demon seriously fights both of them. Though Lisa and Öza trick her and punch her gut, which knocks her down, unable to breathe. Meanwhile, Kyle and the male demon prepare to fight.
