That Anime Show: New Panty And Stocking With Garterbelt Episode 8

What’s going on guys? Welcome to another episode you for panning and stocking season 2. Uh this is episode 8 and with me as always I have Blues Ped. Um it’s well another interesting episode. Um well yeah. So well well just immediately I guess I need to point out that uh so the first two skits are um I guess a crossover uh because I I thought I recognized the character that that showed up in the in these uh in these skits. Uh, but I cuz I had to look it up cuz I know this is like another series that Studio Trigger worked on. Uh, so this character is from a series they did. I think it was in 2012 called Inferno Cop. Uh, so that’s that’s who this character is. So, I just thought it was kind of funny that they’re like I guess having like a crossover thing with I’ve never heard of this character, but but just the way Yeah, because that’s why maybe it might seem weird to people who aren’t familiar with it because I I thought I recognized him, but I never seen the series, but I just I I recognized the character and I was like, “Oh, okay. That’s who that is.” Yeah. Um, it looks like well it was like this technically it would seem like this episode has three skits but the first two skits are I don’t know. I really would consider this the first two skits as just one skit altogether with you know this thing called they they call them thing like the impact cop but like what’s interesting and really funny about this is they don’t really give him like any like any like you know real movement or animation he’s just like you know like how do you call it like some kind of cutout figure like just standing in place with someone just voicing over him. Same same thing with uh what was it with his um was I I guess the police chief or whatever he’s called. Um yeah, like I I guess all the characters from that series are done in that animation style, but it’s weird because I I think like Penny and Stocking are just in their typical like the animation style from their series. Yeah. Uh I I guess the plot for you know these skits is that you know what was the impact cop is dispatched to find the root of all evil and he comes across Penny and stalking and uh they they tell him like the this evil is somewhere on the internet which is kind of kind of funny with uh with I mean you know of course we know like you know people on the internet can be toxic at times but it’s like it it more or less Yeah, I was a little bit confused as to like what they were exactly kind of like poking fun. I I guess they were sort of like making fun of like I guess just like I don’t know if it was like cancel culture or something or just people being trolled. I’m not really sure. I guess that internet toxicity kind of builds up altogether for them for them to like for it to like to manifest itself into like this ghost like like this weird weird like I don’t know how I can describe it it’s its design. It’s just like it it looked like I I don’t know like some kind interconnected orbs or something. Uh, it’s hard to Yeah, it’s hard. It’s a little bit hard to describe, but that’s kind of what it looked like. Yeah. Um, yeah. I I don’t know if they were like supposed to be representative of like, you know, like connecting wires or something like that, but I I don’t is kind of like what it reminded me of. And then um they they end up defeating it and then it moves on to the next skit which continues this storyline with uh supposedly like the root of all evil ends up killing um you know the police chief and the the impact cop like goes into a depression like thinking like you know that he’s not fit to be a cop and then he runs into panning and stalking again and uh they take a a little road trip. I guess. But then and then like you know he you know he this this trip I guess motivates him to becoming a cop again. And then they come like they want to they go back to the you know to the police headquarters to try to find the root of all evil. And then they come across uh what was it the this internet ghost which they beat u in the last kid. And then they use him to find the root of all evil. And then the the end I guess the internet ghost and helps capture this evil before um impact cop ends up shooting him both the legs and both the arms and then insidering incinerating him completely. Yeah. And then like Penny and Stalking are saying like, “Oh, I’m not really sure if that was a ghost. You know, maybe it wasn’t a ghost.” Uh but then they just decide to walk away because Yeah. Impact Cop just like kind of just kind of just like brutally kills it and and they just, you know, they don’t mention it. They just kind of walk off. So, um I I don’t know. I thought like it it was just kind of both of these skits were just kind of like felt like just a really weird crossover that uh just I don’t know. Like it just felt like it it was just there to maybe like reference the a series that Trigger did in the past, I guess. Um because other than that like it just seems like just really random. I mean obviously all the other skits are pretty random too. But this it’s just like I said if you’re not familiar I guess with their with Triggers like previous works I think you’ll be a little bit lost with like who the hell like Impact Cop is you know and why it’s in this like weird art animation style. Yeah. Yeah. I like I just I don’t know. I just didn’t really focus on like, you know, where the origin of this character uh was. I like I just mainly focused like on how ridiculous like, you know, its art style was and how they know how they portrayed this episode. I I just, you know, I I kind of viewed this as more of a throwaway or skit or episode. Yeah. I Well, especially with the last skit, too. I mean, I thought the first two like the first two at least were were not as I I don’t know. Like the last one I thought like I don’t know. I just it was the I mean obviously a lot of these are random but like this one just it was like so um so so like Panty just like starts I mean obviously she’s always kind of had like a you know she she she has a pretty dirty mouth but I guess in this episode she just it’s even like she she just like is dropping the fbomb like constantly. Uh, and they decide basically to I I guess what was it? Um, Garder belt like yeah, he contacts heaven and and I guess as a punishment for panty just dropping graph they they like they they uh they they tie this thing around her tongue so that she can’t say it and if she does say it like her tongue gets cut off but it it regrows her tongue uh regardless. But you like she she does it so many times to the point where Gardville ends up selling her tongues to a sushi restaurant, which first of all that’s disgusting. Second of all, yeah, I don’t know. I thought this skit was just really gross. Well, especially like if you uh maybe not everybody will be able to um pick up on exactly what her tongue being cut off is necessarily in reference to, but it it’s pretty messed up. Like I was like, “Wow, they actually went there.” But I mean, I’m not surprised, but it’s I mean, the series does have a lot of, you know, of course, sexual humor, which but uh yeah, I was like, “Wow, that’s that’s pretty disturbing actually that they’re actually referencing that.” But uh yeah. No. So, so like she she’s unable to spew any profanity because of that that thing on her tongue. But you know after watching like like what was it a musical film she decides to start singing the profanities which is which somehow does not cut her tongue off and and then like you know she she uses this to her advantage to you know start singing you know you know in front of other people which which everyone starts to enjoy strangely enough that she becomes like you know like she becomes a star of like some kind of Broadway musical. just, you know, singing out profanities left and right. And so, so like this u I guess this summons like the ghost of like a musical film, which like it’s it it like manifests itself on her tongue, which is which is weird. And and it seems like, you know, he’s happy enough that, you know, that he’s going to end up passing on to the next to the afterlife. But you know, Pant Mandy decides to like to, you know, sing a musical with with this ghost and they they they are able to and then get, you know, Gardel ends up uh watching the show. He starts to enjoy it. But then he calls heaven again to to you know to switch to switch the effects of that tongue to you know to make sure like you know regardless of like you know if Penny spews out profanities normally or singing profanities she’s going to have her tongue cut off regardless. Yeah. Uh yeah and I mean that’s that’s kind of how the skit ends. Uh yeah, I don’t I I don’t know if I’d say this is like the weakest episode, but it just felt like I don’t know that there was there was nothing to do with the main plot in this episode obviously like it was uh the first two skits were kind of like a crossover and then the last one was just it just felt like you know another one of the just really random skits that we’ve seen already. Um, like it was okay. I I don’t know if like anyone anyone’s really gonna catch on to the whole Impact Cop crossover thing because I don’t Yeah. Well, I mean, unless they’ve seen some of the studios other like anime. I guess they might recognize. I mean, I like I said, I didn’t know that it was a crossover or it, you know, supposedly it is. Maybe it might be, but I don’t I like I don’t think majority of the people who’ve watched this would even really know much about something like this. I I I could be wrong, but yeah, like I just viewed it as kind of like a throwaway like comedy skit uh in a way. Just the way, you know, the the whole thing was am how how how it was animated, how what the plot was and all that stuff. Um I I found like the second uh the second half like which is you know the the p the penny profanity skit uh a lot more funny than than the first half, you know. But yeah, I could see that. I I mean I would have to imagine like you know is she really going to keep that you know that what was it that tongue thing um you know into the next episode because I don’t think they really are. I I doubt it. A lot of the like most of the skits been like mostly well I guess there have been some things that carried over but for the most part I I see them as more like just kind of their own thing. like they’re not really uh it doesn’t seem like they usually carry over into like the main well I guess if there is really a main plot like into the main plot of the series. Um, it’s interconnectivity with, you know, with other episodes. It’s a bit I don’t know. It’s a bit loose in a way because they they Yeah, just because they I don’t really um well, like I said, they’re they’re really not going to get back in the main plot probably until like maybe until the penultimate or maybe in the finale episode of the season. Uh because we we we we we do know like of course there’s there’s the Angel Brothers. They’re still uh going around plotting their next move against the you know the sisters. So I mean we’ll have to you know see where they go from there. But yeah, I thought this was an okay episode. I mean, it’s not the best one, but it was it was kind of funny in a weird way, like, you know, how you know how the first half was presented. And, you know, it’s and the second half with, you know, with the panic thing was uh was, you know, I would think it was pretty pretty decent in my opinion. Yeah, I I thought it was all right. Um, not I I thought most of the previous ones were a lot better, honestly, but this one was was okay. Um, but yeah, I don’t have much else to say about it, though. I don’t know if you have anything else to say. Yeah, I mean I don’t have anything else, but yeah, I thought it was it was an okay episode. It’s not the best one, but yeah. Yeah, it was it was still funny nonetheless. Yeah. Uh but yeah guys, so that all being said, until next time, we will see you all
